Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Yeah....they've done some curious things with Godzilla in this film. The hands at the side remind me of the giant crocodile strung up on the ship in "Hook". The feet are atrocious.

I look at that G2000 concept figure and it just looks like he'd whoop 2014's *** all over the shelf. I can't even pose them next to each other lol

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Overall I like it but if I had my way, the teeth, spines and feet would all get a size hike.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Mass wise, G2014 bigger than G2000, no?

Yes, in that regards, 2014 is bigger than all other Godzillas.

But, if they were all the same size for comparison sake, he just doesn't have the same presence as '54, '64, or say, GMK, who all make the 2014 look like the runt of the Godzilla family with his goofy arms and feet, cute face and baby spines.

And I don't even hate the design lol.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Meh it's a crappy book toy figure. I'll wait for an official still or a bigger figure.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Maybe...but every pic that has come out so far just looks goofy. The art book over, the brazilian show, the statues at the Godzilla encounter and now this. He looked okay in the trailer...

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

I like everything except for the fat granny legs and cankles. :yuck

My favorite part of this design so far is that thick, muscular neck with the rows of spikes on each side.

P.S. Do not Google "fat granny legs". :thud:

Notice you don't see his legs/feet in the trailer. :lol

Exactly, it's a 3-4 inch cheap toy that's part of a set with a book and it all costs less than $10.

book over.

Poorly Photoshopped composite of 2 images, not a good representation.

brazilian show

Illustration for marketing purposes, while very likely the final design, details look softened, the end shot of the trailer looks to have sharper teeth compared to this and likely other details too.

the statues at the Godzilla encounter

Conceptual designs from which the final look definitely draws influence but it's quite different in detail from both.

and now this.

A cheap kids toy, that while yes is based on his final look, is by no means a glimpse at what we're getting in the movie, it's simple in details and I'm sure things like the arm posture were done to keep the size of the packaging down. I would take this as a hint of his look, but by no means should the final look be judged off it.

Like I said, he looked okay in the trailer. But, on a shelf? So far the static poses he's been placed in and the details that have been produced in marketing purposes do not impress.

I'll gladly retract my opinions on this if the higher quality products truly reveal a more "monstrous" Godzilla.

Good points Maul,

However the hands at his side seems to be definite. All the photos and even in the trailer at the final shot you can see what looks like his hands hanging low.

Seems to defiantly have a croc feel and look.

He does look good in what we have seen in the trailer.. But since the toy looks similar to the concept maquette I think we have a good idea what his overall appearance might be.

Having said that. I don't hate the look. I just would have preferred a more classic look.... Bigger Spines, teeth, snout, arms, and feet.

But a great movie could make me not care about any of this :)

Actually they look more like Hippo feet IMO.
