Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Could be wrong, but it looks a lot like the Hubert sculpt from Dragon. Basically Jean Reno from the Wasabi film.

I think the same, that looks a lot like the Dragon Wadsabi sculpt.
Here is a photo (original paint):

Hot Toys also had a poilice man that looked like Jean Reno, but not from a film he played in that I know of. (this head is also slightly bigger - the Dragon is rather petite)

Don't think that is exactly the same. The one I did for Hicks has much sharper upclose details than this. That one looks a bit too smooth. Close though. Very. I think I have repainted that head before.

Maybe the flash and the smooth paint makes it look softer than it is.

Do you have any updates on the Mummy Les?
Would be nice if you let me know something.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Soon. Before the month's end. Maybe even by the 15th. Your's and a lot of other folk's stuff. I've actually wrapped him four times now. Didn't like the bodies. I have one that might work now. More shaped like Karloff's body and not a buck. You will like it.

More to come.

Thank you for the update Les, and looking forward to see him before this months end.

I am patiently waiting more than 2 years now, but the excitement to see it is still there.

Can't wait to unwrap him (the box, not the figure :))

Is this a Les concept piece or is the design based on something.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Don't worry Les, just take your time and have fun with them, it will be more than worth the wait for me.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

I'm not a Reno collector, but what was said about the soulful expression of the eyes is true. It's a real emotional paint. You've raised it to art.

Aaaaand...I see summa my stuff in those photos! :monkey5

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Eyes are the key to any collectible. I'd wager the number one reason people look to get repaints is because the factory eyes don't capture the charater or lack any life. Sideshow's ANH Han Solo is a great sculpt, but the factory eye paint really comes up short of taking that sculpt and making the production figure hit you as an owner as much as it could. The Leon portrait not only has eyes painted such that they convey the Jean Reno likeness, but there's a strong emotional weight to them, you look at the head and you'd swear the figure was sad about something.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

I must admit I still enjoy reading this thread so much and seeing some awesome repaints....Tay you are indeed very lucky that Reno is superb..........:D

So glad I have some FML repaints in my collection....priceless......now to think of the next ones to send. :naughty

Hope all is well with Les and his family.

Keeping hope alive...:)

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Man, that Clark Kent head is just SUPERB. I look at it and it immediately takes me back to my childhood. For me, that's why I make custom figures in the first place.

Cool stuff, Les!

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009
