The original was great. Wonder if this one can live up to it.

Wonder why there is this necessity to remake everything.

I'll stick with the first movie... no need to see this version. Funny how it looks like they tried to get a similar looking kid.

It's a safer bet to go with something that you know works. These guys know that this story works as a film, so it gets remade. I think it is unnecessary, but the trailer does look like this could be a quality remake. I'll probably check it out on DVD eventually.

The original was just beautiful, to be honest looking at the trailer it looks like this could be as good, i am really looking forward to this

Loved the original. This one looks good. I'll definitely check it out. It looks very very similar to the original, in story and tone.

No kidding, and isn't the original relatively new?

Pretty new. You can stream the HD version on Netflix.

I just hate how hollywood has zero ideas and just has to rehash... kind of like music...

I loved the original, but I'll give this one a chance, looks good so far.

I'll wait for Blu.

Watch the trailer on mute. Without the bumpin' soundtrack, it's pretty close (from what we can see) to the original.

Looks like they're gonna try and up the action/drama in it, it'll be interesting to see if it ruins it or makes it better.

Funny how it looks like they tried to get a similar looking kid.

I thought that too. Kid looks really similar.

the original was GREAT.
it looks like they remade it frame by frame from the looks of the trailer....
i'm kinda interested to see how this one delivers.

I want to say Matt Reeves is going to be huge...but I dont know how many shots they stole from the original....

I'm seeing this because Chloe Moretz is awesome, and I'm sure she'll be awesome in this.

I'm going to say this one more time - no, I'm sure I'll have to say it a million more times.

THIS IS NOT A REMAKE. There is a book that the original movie was based on that this movie is also based on. That makes this another adaptation of the novel, not a remake of the film. In fact, the deal for this film was signed before the first film was even finished.

While I enjoyed the first film, I felt that it lost much of the best parts of the novel. I'm hoping we get some of that back here, dropping some of the threads (like the boy's dad) that never went anywhere in the first flick anyway. I see a lot more of that here, like the school fire and even the morse code, that looks like this stays very true to the book. The first movie did as well, but the simple fact of the matter is that a novel has far too much content to have it all contained within a single film. What thread gets followed and which ones fall out is the job of the screen writer - and it's a tricky one, that's for sure.

I can't imagine hollywood being able to even begin to touch on some of the subjects brought up in the book.
