All effects look terrible in the trailers. I wouldnt worry.

And why? Who knows. It could be unnessesary...or it could be very nessesary. We'll see?

Well they definitely aren't my main concern, but they do look really bad. However my biggest concern is of course that of the story and it's looking more and more like they've ruined it in one simple way. The story simply does not work at all if in fact they've done what I fear and that is
turn Eli(Abby) into a girl/vampire.

After watching the trailers I'll pass. I don't see the point of a remake? :dunno

Oh and the little boy looks kinda like Pat Benatar. :rotfl

Just saw this one tonight @ an advanced screening...
It's definitely inferior in many levels to the original...
I'll post more details tomorrow... but thumbs down for me... :(

You didn't see that coming? :dunno

Well at least you admit that it was crap. :duff

First... I never said it was crap... it's not...
I didn't like it, but it IS very well executed and the acting is superb...

But it's getting great reviews so far...

I can see why, as i say, it's very well done, acting is great, cinematography is amazing, dialog is interesting and compelling characters, but somehow it feels soul-less...

Didn't think the original was anything special. Will prolly rent the remake.

The original is a masterpiece IMO, it's definitely in my top 3 Vampire movies ever...

OK, here's my brief review... some spoilers will follow...

-History-wise it's obviously the same, sometimes with less layers and more explanation... this I didn't like... the original kind of left you figuring out things as you go along, this one pretty much spells out everything.

-Acting was great! Really good performances by all the cast... I liked Chloe and Kodi's performance very much...

-Technically it was great as well, right mood, great shots, very artistically filled visuals but somehow it feels forced... don't know why...

- OK, this is the one thing I actually hated...
the vampire effects... the CGI sucks... looks like Gollum... terrible... terrible... also, Abby doesn't seem to deteriorate that much if she doesn't eat... I don't know... I think this is what breaks the movie for me...

-There's a few changes that I really didn't like story-wise... it kind of makes it a little weaker IMO... like the
Death of a surviving victim... it's a little less interesting...

In a nutshell... the movie is a VERY good movie... but definitely not as good as the original...
If you haven't seen the original one, you might be surprised by this one...
Definitely worth seeing though...
but thumbs down from a fan of the first one point of view... there's simply no way of beating the original...

I just noticed the bride from the hangover is in this. Which means when it comes out on DVD I will give it a watch. :rock

The more I hear about this newest adaptation, the less I want to see it in the theaters. I thought the first adaptation failed in some respects and was hoping what was cut story wise from the first would appear in the second. Seems that's not really the case though. Pity.

The book was soooo much better than the film (which is always the case I know). It's always interesting what gets cut from a story in order to make it translate in a visual medium, but in this instance I really feel a certain aspect of the book plot should have been included within the film treatments, while some other aspects could have potentially been dropped if there were time constraints.

I loved the book, I really did. But for some reason, it took me a lot longer to get through than most books. I'm an avid reader, and I don't think I'm *that* dull or dumb, but something was keeping me from finishing the book for the better part of a year. I don't know why, I just needed to read it in sections rather than all the way through.

:dunno

I seen it today. I am not familiar with the book or the previous film. I did enjoy it, although it was a bit slow moving.

Looking forward to this one....story is slower paced, but the cast looks wonderful, and with a story like this, the cast will make or break a film

Went to see this on Saturday and I thought it was excellent. Having seen and loved the original, I thought it would be tough to match it, but Matt Reeves pulled it off. The cast did an amazing job, Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smitz Mcphee had such good chemistry that everytime they were on screen together it felt genuine. Elias Koteas and Richard Jenkins were also fantastic and even the little ********* that bullies Owen was good. There were slight differences from the original, but not enough to really complain about, it's just too bad it didn't do that well at the box office, it really is a good movie.

If any of you are hoping to see this in the theater, you had better get out there this weekend. I saw it today in the farthest theater from the center of the multiplex. You know, the tiny one that seats about 50 with a tiny screen? It's where films go to die. :monkey2

I can sum up my thoughts on this film in one word: unnecessary.

This version didn't accomplish *anything* that wasn't already done in the first film, so in that sense, it was unnecessary. The relocation of the setting was unnecessary (honestly, I had no idea it snowed in New Mexico :monkey1). Unnecessary character name changes. Unnecessary changes in the behavior of characters. I could go on and on. It was just... unnecessary.

That's not to say I hated it. I really thought I would after the first 20 or so minutes. I was angry about all the changes that were made for no reason. Angry about the unnecessary (there's that word again) beginning which shows the halfway point of the movie and then gives us the "2 weeks earlier..." crap. But eventually, once we got to the meat of the story, I appreciated some "new" scenes, however short they were.

I thought the cast was great, but as for direction, cinematography, music, etc., I don't think they broke any new ground here.

It was okay, but my recommendation is to wait for Netflix. Better yet, just watch "Let the Right One In", it's already available for streaming.

I couldnt disagree more. What is so great about the original? The acting is horrible, and the chemistry between Oskar and Eli is just as bad.

Saw Let Me In the other night. Thought the pacing and acting was far superior to the original. And while the special effects are nothing to rave about, I thought it did a way better job than the original movie did in terms of showing her kill and turn into a blood thirsty vampire.

Imo, everything about this remake was totally necessary to polish up a rough cut of a movie.

I actually prefer that they made Abby a girl vampire instead of a boy like in the original.
