Lets be honest, for the price and quality, is there anyone that can really compete with Sideshow's Marvel Statues?

I've seen some amazing Custom Representations, but the prices being asked seem ridiculous.

If Marvel Inc. would let someone other than Sideshow have the 1/4 license. I'm more than positive that Sideshow would have viable competitor, but since that's not the case Sideshow will continue their monopoly. But only because there is no other licensed company around. Custom cost more because of shipping, because most customs I've found are from overseas. Then you take into account the very small ES for those custom statues. I say custom are for the most part pretty fair priced. Which probably why we pay so much for statues today. I'm sure SSC is aware of those prices and they are capitalizing on that with there licensed product.

PCS, Gentle Giant, Blitzway's new Bruce Lee is damn impressive but if your talking about Marvel then no not really.

Kotobukiya are making some great Marvel pieces but there 1/6

As far as statues,No one.GG and Bowen are far behind.

Ssc owns right now and it's been for a while I don't see Bowen or anyone else even on the horizon.

Not just shipping, but every artist throws in Materials/Time into the price per statue. Since they don't buy in the same whole sale quantities as Sideshow they're going to be more expensive. I was looking and sculpting materials this past week. $11/Lb. of Super Sculpty not to mention Armature Wire, Armature Stands, and we haven't even got into casting materials. It's a pricey venture.

As for the original question, if I'm being Honest I look at all the other companies statues, and while people have their complaints about sideshow, Sculpt wise and Price Wise, no, I don't think anyone out their can directly compete just yet.

Some of you are kissing Sideshow's behind that even your words smell like ****. Are we talking about 1/4th scale or 1/6th? Because as far as I can tell, Bowen and Kotobukiya own the smaller market.

After spending thousands of dollars over the years with SS, I do not regret walking away from their QC mess and overprice ****.

If GG could secure licenses and not take forever and a day they could. If you see their Sucker Punch stuff, the paint job puts production SSC pieces to shame. Seems they are bringing that same A game to their Walking Dead statues but it will take forever to get them.

I wouldn't say GG are far behind like this is amazing IMO

Koto has had plenty of QC nightmares. I do not regret running away from them.

I totally agree. Customs are awesome!! But the price of shipping makes them harder to acquire.:dunno

there's different classification, like scale, price, quality, and license. SS won in this Marvel area, and eventually DC, but also because other manufacture is classified differently.

SS aren't in the smaller market so they should but I do love SS I'm not going to lie but I'm not a fanboy either. Just look at my previous posts in this thread.

I must admit I've came close to buying some Bowen pieces in the past but over here in the UK a Bowen piece is like £30, 40 cheaper than a PF so I could never justify getting one.

bowen designs has the best marvel representation in 1/6 scale and mini-bust. the size is ideal for the collector with limited space...like most of us, and the selection cannot be compared to. i had amassed a huge bowen collection but i've sold about half of it now and i'm in the process of selling most of what remains. i did't like the treatment i received from interacting with mr. bowen himself on a collectors forum and i decided that i didn't want to collect his pieces anymore.

I understand your predicament. I see it from the perspective of a consumer here in the US. I can buy a Bowen or Koto piece for half or a third of the price (some times) of a Premium Format. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't either.
