Re: More pics

Thanks guys, you've made Jodie's day.

She's all

Thanks again Goldberry for the link... :bow

BDR, the place is amazing. Its in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef, on the north east coast of Australia. Living in Melbourne, where the winter can get pretty cold - not cold enough to snow though - it was great to be wearing shorts and thongs (flip-flops) and getting a tan.

You guys know "Finding Nemo" right? Well, that where Nemo comes from, the Great Barrier reef.

Re: More pics

Damn now see that is awsome, when I go to the beach I have to walk 3/4 mile on hot sand to look @ some cold rough water and no fish unless you count the jelly fish.... yeah good times

No Memo, No hotties nothing! :lol

I have a friend thats lives over in Sydney somewhere ~ she has always promised a couch whenever a few of us get the money to take a trip and try and dive with the whites...It just has always seemed like the most beautiful place on earth :toast

:dunno

Re: More pics

Yeah, its not bad down here... just a long way from everywhere else... and the shipping costs for polystone are a killer :bang

Diving with Great Whites - you're game :rock You've seen JAWS no doubt :b

But seriously, if you're into diving with sharks, I'd try off the coast of South Australia - near Adelaide I think, where they breed. Suposedly it's heaps safer, as they all congregate together and are not into feeding, just chillin' and sleeping around.

Gimme Les Miz...

Love the pic, gOzum. Nice girl you've got there! She looks vivacious and lots of fun. Oh, to be in Australia! (RIGHT NOW!) :sleep But I'm dreamin'... :b

Thanks, Peter. We're totally on the same page about Javert. That's TOTALLY my dream role, too. I'd do anything to capture that one. :bow

Your job sounds like it ROCKS. And like it would be a lot of fun for a lot of the time. And being around the stars seems a bit glamorous! Misconceptions or Truth -- or a little of both? What's your favorite part of it?

:wave

Re: Gimme Les Miz...

Now I know why you goes ummmm.

BigDaddyRob, I tells ya it's too cold to swim down south in South Australia in the winter and or summer, lol. Come to Melbourne if you want to swim with a shark. We have one in a tank, fed up to the gills with fish and fries, so it will just cost you, instead of costing you an arm an a leg. So others get to gawk at you, while you do it, but you will have pics to prove your mad. Not a great white, but big and with rows of great white teeth. Although I can't say if the tank is heated. The north, where gozum is pictured is the place. The water is like 25 degrees in winter, and babes for miles. You get to play the shark.

Re: Gimme Les Miz...

Alright, I found one I had on the computer from a recent show we played. I would be the guy in the Clerks shirt...

Re: Gimme Les Miz...

You could do with a roadie that had safety in mind, leads everywhere. You aren't in the union I take it, :D . Just joking, it looks good really. What are you playing your strat though, BTW. Is that a Peavey Mark IV Bass amp? I had one of those, now I have a SWR Mobass. What style of music do you play? and do you do covers or original stuff?

Get down. :rock

Re: Gimme Les Miz...

Sup Creech! It was way worse before I jumped in and straightened those cables out some. We are a 9 piece and it's a logistical nightmare setting things up. But, it gets better over time. I play through a Fender Bassman. And we play funk and Soul with a smattering of Blues and classic rock. we have a full horn section that you can't see in the picture. They were on my right. Right now it's all covers but we have some promising material we are working on that's original. our biggest problem has been getting all 9 of us together at any given time so things are moving at a snails pace.

Saw this thread listed in the new "Permathreads" section and, though I'm not a LOTR collector, this seems like a fun thread populated with fun people, so I thought I'd drop in, post a pic —that's me on the left — and introduce myself.

I primarily post in the "General Forum" and I collect Sideshow's Universal Monsters, Buffy, Twilight Zone, and Outer Limits 1:6 and 1:4 figures.

At 55 years old, I have the dubious distinction of being the oldest board member — at least no one older has come forth to challenge my reign in the "How old is the average Sideshow Collector" poll.

Well, that's it for this visit. Nice to meet you all!

Re: Who is this guy, anyway?

Hey FrankenFan, ya old spunk. :lol Guess what? I read a post, about a week ago, and 57 is the new threshold. :lol

I tell you what, you really need to jump right in, and delve into the LOTR section. They are a lovely crew. I never used to look there either, didn't think I should poke my shnoz in. There are many Off Topic threads in there, and they don't discriminate, I have had a ball, learnt a lot and made many friends. I don't particularly like it that some of them are starting to get 1/6 scale figures. Mainly because I don't think the edition numbers are large enough to incorporate them, and they are more financial, well they'd have to be, wouldn't they?, and that means it will be harder to get what I want. :lol

Who's your friend? He must be Tasmanian, because I can see the tell tale scar where they removed the other head. :lol

Re

Hey Frankenfan - Nice of you to drop in. You look like Kenny Loggins!
Universal Monsters, eh? Watched Bride of Frankenstein a couple of nights ago - Class!
"Pretorius? There's no such name!"

Re: Re

Thanks for the welcome guys!

creecher:

Glad to learn there are other 50-somethings among the membership. I happily relinquish my crown. Perhaps we should get AARP on the case and lobby Sideshow for a senior discount...

I know you recognize my friend Albert. ;)

quarr:

"Bride" is my favorite of all the Universal horror films. The line of dialog you quoted has it's roots in medieval superstition. Pretorius is akin to the devil — he even compares himself to his miniature Mephisto — and the devil's name had to be spoken three times or more before he could be invited in.

And, speaking of comparisons, what a terrible thing to say about Kenny Loggins! :b

re

"Bride" has got to be my favourite too.... Closely followed by The Wolf Man. They beat the hell out of Freddy, Jason, Scream and all the new stuff!
I suppose that's what growing up with Aurora "Glow In The Dark" monster kits does for ya! Coupled with the fact that my fave book as a kid was "A Pictorial History Of Horror Movies" by Denis Gifford.
If you're ever in the UK we should get together for a drink... : "Do you like gin? It's my only weakness!" ;)

Re: re

Sounds like we have a lot in common, quarr! I built the Aurora kits, too, though they were molded in grey plastic when I bought the original "long boxes" in the early 60's. The original models are long gone but, I've still got my copy of the Giford book!

You certainly know your "Bride" dialog, quarr. Would love to have that drink sometime (I'm a Jack Daniels man, myself) despite my good friend chreecher's warning!

"To Gods and monsters!"

Re: re

Here's me, with some of my SSW collection,
and also me posing with my United Cutlery Narsil,
with my Sideshow Weta Elendil helm on my head
a la Chris with Sauron Helm at SDCC.

You may also have seen me with my broken
treebeard bust sitting on my shoulder.
