This is still in stock at OSK but when I’m logged in, I now get hit with a $28 US tariff fee on top of the $288 😭

Remember will said this figure was a boring announcement the first time the images came out. So I don't have any faith he even cares how well it came out.
Most of these reviewers are just posers. They don’t really care about anything, except attention.

Yeah, there's that now for anyone logging on with an address in the US. :(
Physically I don’t live in US, but was using US forwarder company to get packages till now, this way I got them faster and safer. Forwarder is located in Delaware which is tax free state. Should I switch to Chinese mail forwarding? Have that option. I was already paying extra to them for the weight. Or Delaware stays tax free. I’m confused.

Yea checked and shows increased price for me as well. Gonna change the address to China

Delaware is only tax exempt for state sales tax. Presumably, it'll still be hit with the same import fees as the rest of the country.

I'm confused by that - isn't the tariff to be paid by the consumer when the figure is set to be delivered? Why is Kit paying for that? Does that become 10% to Kit and another 10% when it reaches our door?

If so, I may have to re-evaluate a couple of pre-orders, nevermind new stuff.

4PX handle the delivery and customs, so they pay the tax and 10% tariff which is already included in the sale price.

There should be nothing else to pay.

Technically, the 10% is paid by the exporter or business entity importing the product for retail sale. If either entity raises their prices for that purpose, they should be prepaying the tariffs when the item is shipped out so when you receive it, you won't pay anything. Either way, that additional cost gets passed to the consumer unless they're willing to shoulder the tariffs at no additional cost to the buyer but obviously that cuts into their profits significantly.

yeah, I don't see why Kit is charging more when he is not the one that have to pay for taxes...or maybe is because a solution to send the package from another location that is not China so people can avoid taxes. But to me is not very clear if taxes are from packages from China or products made in China.

It's technically supposed to hit products made in China, regardless of where they're shipped from, but the enforcement is up to each carrier. Apparently some services like UPS have been going wild on "brokerage fees" the past few days :/

He has to pay them to 4PX, who then pay them to US customs.

This is what I hate with these couriers. They make money out of charging those duties. You already have the 10% and they want payment also for their "service." Just make sure to have the retailer prepay the duties.

I do wonder, since USPS doesn't have the capacity to be examining where the contents are made from, that if a package shipped from another country has less chances of getting scrutinized even if the contents are made in China.

Yea its the same way in Europe. A good Chinese store will include the Tax in the final price. If they don’t, the shipping company will have to assess the package and will charge a ridiculous extra handling and administration fee on top of the 10%.

Changed address to China taxes are gone. Set it as a primary. Should I contact Kit to update orders or he will use this address whenever he sends me invoices? Old preorders are on US address. What a mess Jesus Christ. Trump :horse :tap

Let me preface this by saying I have zero issue helping Kit out if he comes for more money, but then what happens with Lim’s John figure? We all have our orders in at a set price, do we think Kit builds that extra into the final invoice? He shouldn’t have to take a bath on every order he needs to ship.

I also had no idea the exporter pays the tariff. I thought it was paid at the time of delivery. Is that just for things from China direct? Or let’s say a Hot Toys figure gets ordered from Canada. Does the Canadian shipper pay the tariff to UPS or the Canada Post?

This is a lot to learn about on the fly, and why the idiot should have given people a lead time of a few months to figure things out rather than just go live and have chaos.

There's two things happening here. There's a tariff on Chinese goods that has to be paid by the exporter (that's new and is meant to be a punishment to China), but there are also customs duties that are levied on imported goods.

Previously, anything under $800 used to come into the US for free, but they are now being taxed and the courier needs to pay that, so they pass it onto the consumer. That's what Kit needs to pay to 4PX, so he has to charge that to the consumer.

I noticed he's starting to update his preorder listings to account for the possibility of an upcharge:

I wonder what gonna happen to the US preorders on Sideshow and BBTS. Will they add 10% or take it as a lose.
