I decided to weather his shoes a bit.
Everything on this figure has so much detail and is finely weathered but the shoes looked a bit too new to me still:

There is one thing that's getting harder and harder for me to ignore: Manufacturers like LIM Toys and GameToys are really spoiling us - me at least - in a way. :monkey2
I used to be quite happy with my old Nate:

... but now, whenever I look at it I just find it lacking in so many ways...

(Side note: It was already lacking some good accessories and a correct shoulder holster before but now it's just a general lack of quality on top of it all...)
:lol

Way better 👍

Many thanks! :)

I think the Sideshow figure would not only benefit from the head swap but also the body, hands/arms. The Sideshow body was fine at the time, but the brown/purple skintone was and still is really bad as well as the wonky hands and sickly paint apps. The outfit and accessories were great though.

I passed on that Sideshow figure back in the day. The outfit and gear look great on the LimToys though, so at least you have options now 👍

I picked up the Sideshow figure at a fair price, and put the Limtoys head on it, adjusted the shemagh and it looks significantly better. The pleather all ended up being coated with a clear coat just to keep it together for now. Considering the figure itself is now over ten years old, it holds up relatively well, minus the production head.

I also put together an Uncharted 2 Nate for a "trilogy" set. All in all, the LimToys release set the bar high.

This is actually really good and the boots look more in game accurate as they are darker brown with heavy weathering due to mud and sand. I plan to do the same for my Nate soon.

i like how crappy you posed the cc toys to downplay him. reminds me of another toy company supermad.

how do you go around? paint? weathering powder? i find top coats on rubbers dont work well after few years they become wet.

i weathered some hands and after few years it became sweaty, kinda realistic but i had to wipe it off. paint n weathering seems intact though.

I usually use acrylic, and do coats of dry brushing if I'm changing color on boots I just coat it all in the new color while trying to keep details like the lace holes etc. Then just add the weathering effects with dry brushing. Pick very earthy colors like orange, khaki, beige, browns and some grays.

:ROFLMAO: Thank you! ;)
I just took a quick comparison pic before putting him in a box for now. Didn't bother finding a nice pose just for that. The LIM figure deserves the spotlight now.

My old figure uses the Kai X Eleven head sculpt on a WorldBox body btw. It's not the CCToys version.
The outfit is from Sideshow. And that still holds up very well in my opinion.
But I was seriously surprised how tiny the WorldBox body looked next to the LIM Toys version...

Still really like my Sideshow Nate. The skin tone we all know was just wrong, but the outfit and gunbelt still excellent. (Bandolier removed for use on another figure, as I think he looks better without it.)
