Super Freak
I've been reading this comic since issue #1. Love it. This and "Chew," both of which are being made into TV/Cable shows.
I hope it doesn't suck in the conversion to TV..

If I could attempt to summarize it without spoiling it, basically it's about a family who's father asks the family to move back to the Key House/Mansion;the father has many childhood memories of this house, which in turn has many secrets. Family agrees and they move there. A traumatic event occurs, thanks to escaped con Lester, (I won't spoil it any further than that) and the family (alcoholic mother, adolescent/independent son, younger alternative daughter, and even younger and more curious son) are left to pick up the pieces. The children soon find out that the mansion has various secret hidden keys, each of which unlocks certain powers and abilities, such as turning into a ghost, or unlocking your head and removing fears/adding knowledge, transporting to other places, etc etc etc. Of course there is an evil force trying to gain access to these keys, who takes human form and befriends the children, all in an attempt to release demons into this world. That's the Cliff Notes version.
The comic series is one of my top 2 must read books.
Writer/Creator - Joe Hill (Stephen King's son)
Comic Art - Gabriel Rodriguez
