I saw a special on CNN about this a couple days ago, and I'm not sure these folks have a very sophisticated understanding of the global economy. It sucks that things are hard for lots of people out there, but you aren't gonna make things better for yourself and your children by implementing protectionist trade policies and drastically modifying the tax system at the expense of the rich. Not that there is even a remote possibility of any of that stuff taking place.

Since 2008, I've had both parents laid off, some uncles laid off, and some friends. And none of them are out protesting--they have been out looking for jobs, not handouts. Also, what many of this people won't admit to, is that they signed loan docs on loans they KNEW they couldn't pay. Is that really the banks fault? Maybe partially, but it was the borrower who thought they were so clever to borrow more than they could afford. So they should be picketing against themselves too.

well the police and firemen came in earlier to take away their power generators citing fire hazards but the generators are run with vegetable oil. they seem to try new methods to get rid of them.

They are expected to get 7 inches of snow tomorrow. Lets see how that works out. :lol I bet a lot will go back to mom and dads house to freeload there.

sadly it probably wont effect them much, theyre like feral cats they'll conquer any conditions given to them. what i would like to see them do one day is have them bring hoses and spray them down with water like they did in the south during civil rights, peeps wont get hurt but itll be fun watching them get a bath for the first time in a month especially those yucky looking men with the beards and dreads, you could smell those guys from miles away.

The life cycle of a hippy...

Born into a normal family > get's f-ed up in high school > get's more f-ed up in college, but graduates and starts to "give it to the man" > gets his first real job as a professor in college, after shaving, grooming, and supressing his grandiose ideals temporarily to fit in > tries to recruit new hippies and succeeds > some event happens which may or may not affect him and he sees the chance to picket or "give it to the man" again > REPEAT til death.

what you just said sounds like something you see in Matt Groening's Life in Hell strips

but lets face it hippy guys get more booty than us who collect figures and comics

Actually it's hippies and yuppies.

yah I personally cant stand those damn hipsters (especially women who aspire to be next Top model and look like garbage but want guys to pay for their meals, handbags), if only these hippie tree huggers would go invade Williamsburg that would be neat

They don't deserve to be in Williamsburg. :lecture

the protestors are trying to draw attention to the fact that Wall Street wrecked the economy three years ago and nobody had been held responsible. over twenty percent of this country's net worth accumulated over the last two centuries was destroyed.

the protesters are not asking for a hand out… they are not saying the rich should not be rich…

BS, that's exactly what they are saying.

i don't know what you have heard, but it appears that you haven't been listening.
I've been listening and seeing fine. Pictures of protesters damning Capitalism and praising Socialism and Communism. Lists of demands of minimum wage of 20 dollars an hour, free healthcare, and free college. Videos of the protesters showing the same as the pictures. What is OWS all about except that so and so has more than I do and I deserve some of it.

Funny that the protesters are protesting the same multi Billion dollar corporations that they can't do without. Sony, Microsoft, Apple, all companies that the majority of the protesters would figuratively die without are the same ones the protesters are making rich. Why don't the protesters boycott this stuff? Because they want their piece of the pie as long as you don't touch their stuff. Bunch of hypocrites.

Same thing with wanting to get the homeless to stop mooching off them. The whole movement is about helping out those who have less. But when the homeless are trying to get food from the OSW people they are being turned away. Again I repeat, HYPOCRITES!

sounds like you have been getting your news from Rush Limbaugh. you forgot the "demand" for less profit for banks… lower compensation for bankers… more strictures on banks with regard to negotiating consumer services such as mortgages and debit cards… reduction of the influence that corporations—financial firms in particular—wield in politics a and more populist set of government priorities.

continue to make your judgements from behind your computer... continue to reach your opinions based on what FOX news tells you... at least these people are showing up for what they stand for.

Of course anyone who disagrees with your view of things must get their views from Fox. None of what I posted came from Fox. Just my own thoughts and some searches of Google.

Why should we be able to "demand" a business make less profit? If I go to get a loan and the rates are to hi I just don't do business there. I don't "demand" that they lower their rates, I go elsewhere. If "they" decide to give me a better rate then we do business. As far as business and politics, there are already rules put in place for that.

And as far as fighting for what they believe in? They are like spoiled children. They think because someone makes more than them it isn't fair and the difference should be evened out some. Pure Socialist BS. I work hard for my money and it took me years to learn a trade. No way do I believe that someone who has not advanced themselves should get anything from me. And I don't believe that I should make the same amount of money the owner of my company makes. He pays me a fair wage, if I don't like it I am welcome to move on.
