I saw a special on CNN about this a couple days ago, and I'm not sure these folks have a very sophisticated understanding of the global economy. It sucks that things are hard for lots of people out there, but you aren't gonna make things better for yourself and your children by implementing protectionist trade policies and drastically modifying the tax system at the expense of the rich. Not that there is even a remote possibility of any of that stuff taking place.
Since 2008, I've had both parents laid off, some uncles laid off, and some friends. And none of them are out protesting--they have been out looking for jobs, not handouts. Also, what many of this people won't admit to, is that they signed loan docs on loans they KNEW they couldn't pay. Is that really the banks fault? Maybe partially, but it was the borrower who thought they were so clever to borrow more than they could afford. So they should be picketing against themselves too.
