i know, this is just a amateur song and video done by a keralaite dentist , nothing proffesional, but has become a you tube rage among mallus

lol , u mean u had to bribe the customs,, can u message me detailss, like to know more about that experience, like which item, how much was it declared and your post office experience and how much u paid eventually

Will sure do. All I can say is, I have learnt things over a period of time. I was in Bangalore for a few years, there things were different. They just caught my '92 Bowen Batman and I had to give some duty. The worst part is, you do not get to know how the hell they reach on the penalty/fine/duty? If it was 100% accurate / legitimate, they will not accept lesser amount. Anyways, I am used to it now. Like your Conan and his Prize :) Do you have it displayed at home or is it still boxed up :wink1:

its boxed up , actually i hav 2 of that, first sidshow item i got and it was damaged, the one in the foto is actually the damaged one. then bought another from BBts , for nealry double the amount, i had won the first on ebay an auction for just 210$, but sadly it was damaged and seller refunded only the shipping fees, 85$, no use asking for insurance. sacrificed the money kept aside for kratos statue and bought another conan, still dont regret it though , cos recently a damaged conan without even the base sold for 350$

Really felt good after reading it; we've evolved a bit more (culturally) in terms of accepting collectors as sane people and not outcasts! After all, isn't acknowledgement and acceptance all that everybody needs. Hope the next step would be someone realising the potential of the market and opening a store some where in the country.

had to put up this article, which came on sunday in the national newspaper, this is just a follow up article to the first ever comic con in india.. i get a mention inspite of having only around 7 sideshow items , lols

Having 7 SS items in this part of the world is no small thing and I respect you for that. Seeing the love that these collectibles are getting gradually, it wont be too long!

As for the Con, it was awesome. Got a first hand look at comic convention even though it wasn't too grand. Was glad that I'm not the only one here. Lotsa freaks and like-minded people. For once I was not ridiculed on buying an action figure. Kudos to the organisers and keep it coming. Just as everything starts out small, I can foresee the Con growing bigger and bigger year after year!

Yeah bro. Actually I've an idea on the latter part of your post.

BTW, where are you from?

Cheers,
Neo.

Hey Neo, glad to know that you're (a freak!) from India! :) I am in Rajasthan. Where're you from? Till now I know 2 people over here, Liju from Kerela and Ankit from Calcutta (I guess so?). What all was there in the Bombay Con? Did you take some pics/videos? Do share the idea too mate :wave

I'm from a town called Badlapur in the suburbs of Mumbai. Then there's Ramgopal too (whose wife covered the article that Liju has put up) who is from Thane, Mumbai.

The Bombay Con was small although exciting and buzzing with activity. I was surprised with the response that it garnered. There were comics from Indian publications with artwork that could wow you even if you aren't a comic book fan. Unlike the illustrations that we've come to see by the likes of Chacha Chaudhary, Doga, Naagraj etc (don't get me wrong - these titles have a cult following of their own and deserve respect). Then there were cult shops featuring merchandise based on pop culture, paper toys by Kshiraj Telang, a clearance sale by Avenger toys, Headbangers, various graphic and animation workshops and even Cosplay.

It wasn't grand like the Cons that take place abroad but still it was a nice start and me and my buddy enjoyed it. I've taken some pics. Had no time to upload them. Will let you know once I do

And yeah, I'll share the idea once I have a definite vision set on it.

Cheers,
Neo.

When I was young I used to collect Phantom, Bahadur, Mandarke, and loads of others. Yes, I am/was a big fan of Chacha Chaudhary and loved to read Billu and Pinki too! We had a book fair in Jaipur and there was Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle stalls. Bought some of them :) Was looking for some of the other stuff but found only 'Colouring Books' of Iron Man and Hulk :lol

I still remember sitting in the comic book section of Landmark for hours reading. Now I purchase all my books from flipkart.com, they sell it at MSRP and with free shipping! What more could you ask for.

Ramgopal who, I hope he's not Ramgopal Varma :wink1:

Nice to talk to you dude. What do you like to collect? :wave

Hehe...! I used to get Tinkle and occasionally Chacha Chaudhary as well.

I'm not into comics nowadays although I still like to read them.

And no, he's Ramgopal Krishnan. Check out Skinnyalley collectibles on FB. Dude is a freak too. I remember that my conversation with him lasted for about 2 hours and we were just discussing Hot Toys and action figs!! :D

I'm more of a collectibles guy. Hot Toys, Sideshow, Medicom, Hasbro etc. I didn't know about SS until about a year back and all the awesome stuff had already passed on. Still, I'm trying my best by saving each and every bit I can. I still haven't got a single SS item yet but have 3-4 coming in the next few months (gotta space 'em out to avoid parent's suspicion).

Looking forward to hear from more freaks from India!

Cheers,
Neo.

the pic from the con are on facebook. just search comic con mumbai and u can find the pic, though im 35 now, i wish i was a kid now and could have attended the con, it looked exciting just from the pic, i had a couple of freinds from called, who call themselves the Libera artisiti , who sold out their artwork commisions, i was actually surprised to hear that, and rishi is correct, the comic con has great potential particularly in this age of digital comics where . i hope slowly we have an international panel as well with artist from all over the world shwoing their works,, i dont want big things from the beginning, its better to take it step by step, mainly because indian comics shouldnt be overshadowed by giants like Dc and marvel, i was dissapointed though that liquid comics didnt make their presence felt. ( former gotham) , something is seriously wrong with those guys, just big announcements.

thers one more from mumbai , who has started collecting sideshow, , i asked him to register here, but hes having some trouble opening the pages

and i have around 4 sideshow stuff in pre order, tomb raider pf, joker pf,dutch pf and the new predator, cant wait for the D announcements

Yeah dino. But hey, since when has age got to do anything with this? You should've come over here yaar. Would've had a blast. I personally invite you for next year's Con.

And Who's the other guy from Mumbai? Is he on FB?

And I've got a few items coming from SS as well. Some pretty big ones!! :D

Cheers,
Neo.
