If I remember correctly I saw an interview a while back where it was said that some things would be answered, some won't. It was due to the fact that one of the main themes of the show is that of faith v. science orr if you perfer, the notion of the concrete fact vs. the great wide unknown.

Hmm...well if you are going to put it that way then I suppose it rather makes sense.

Anybody else think that Desmond may have or has developed psychic abilities? He already knew that Locke is going to save Jack, KAte and Sawyer and about the speech before he even gave it. After all, that is one of the types of experiments the D.I. was conducting on the Island.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that. And it would explain the Pearl station watching the Swan station.

Well if you just look at the characters, its an idea that is more then fitting. Jack and Locke could be considered the leaders. Jack is a man of science, Locke is a man of faith. Michael became a man of faith when he went searching for Walt. Bernard beleived in science, but turned to faith for Rose's cancer (that is her name right? havent seen them in forever). Desmond lived off faith and his faith became concrete when the magnet powered up. It is all very fitting that there are some things we eventually know for absolute certainty but some things we will never have any idea on.

Yeah it is a very good point Memnoch, I just never thought of it that way before. I would also the interesting dynamic between Locke losing faith and Mr. Eko retaining it.

I think after seeing what happened due to his lack of faith Locke is returning to his proper path of "blind" faith. While for him it may seem he has always been searching for acceptance or a real family, every step and setback has got him to the island where as a faithful and hopeful man he was being rewarded. Eko at the same time I think will bond with Locke now that his faith has returned if not strengthened.

Has it ever been mentioned why the animals were let loose?

Let loose, or escaped! ;) Hey check that out, a reversal from a movie quote --- cool! :lol

I don't know, but how many Jaws movies were there again?! :lol
Too many!

I thought the t-shirt on the skeleton in the polar bear cave was a nice touch.

This week's episode was frustrating.

Too many questions left hanging from the end of last season were either ignored or answered poorly.

And Locke's game of charades made little sense--why didn't he immediately start writing words in the sand if he wanted to communicate so badly?

And if you can't afford good polar bear FX, just don't write one into the episode.

And they killed off Libby and Ana Lucia so they can introduce two more new characters? Only instead of formally introducing them and explaining their appearance, they just walk up and start talking like they've been there all along. All the background characters should have been introduced by now. It's a little late to be adding new actors and just saying, "They've been there the whole time, you just haven't seen them the first two seasons."

"And, Hurley, by the way, there's a mad bear on the loose who is sure to come back this way in a bloody frenzy, but by all means, just wander alone back to camp. See you later!"

And if I was running around in just a T-shirt with my johnson flapping in the wind, the first thing I would do when I got back to camp would be to get some shorts on, and THEN throw pebbles into the sea.

But it was nice to see Boone again.

I just want to know if it is actually possible for polar bears to live in that climate like that.

Yes, they could.

You can find polar bears in zoos all over the world, in every climate. They do just fine.

Bears are adaptable and extremely smart. And fur insulates against heat too - not just the cold.

There are obviously animals that do have certain temp restrictions and that's why you don't find them in every zoo. Moose and elk are perfect examples. They must have icy temperatures, so you won't find them in the lower states. :lecture

Charlie's attitude changed during the melt-down too. Remember? He was in that weird good mood as he wandered back to camp. And Claire instantly responded and is liking him again. :dunno

Maybe John "had faith" that the bear would be after them, and not bother Hurley??? :dunno:dunno

Kinda bugged me about the new characters, too...

Thanks for the info GrueSam that's pretty interesting. Who says you can't learn anything from watching TV? Or at least spark questions that leads to learning.

I was really hoping that we would find out why Charlie was in such a happy mood as he returned from the hatch in the season two closer. Everything was exploding/imploding and he barely escapes a huge explosion with his life, and instead of checking on his friends, he just wanders back to camp and says, "Oh gosh, the other guys aren't back yet? That's weird! Let's sit around until it gets dark and make out instead of going back to help them. I'm not concerned about them at all!!"

And Hurley sure got back to camp fast! Remember the days when it would be hours of hiking just to get to the hatch? The island is shrinking! I'll bet that Sayid and Sun and Jin get back from sailing around the island about five minutes into the next episode.

I know what you mean. It's always disheartening when you're reminded that a great TV show is still just... a TV show. Like catching a magition doing a trick.

But I guess that's the risk of what made LOST so great in the first place. The writers write outrageous stuff. When it works. they're heroes. When budget, scheduals, etc. bogs things down... not so much.

About the shorts... That occured to me, too. I mean, Hurley's shirt is nowhere near long enough for true freedom of movement with modesty. So I figured he grabed some tidy whities off screen. Or... being European, maybe a Speado.
