That would be so awesome. Get GTW in on form and GTG in another. That would make me one very happy SDCC Attendee. :rock

Really? You know this for a fact do you? There won't be anything at SDCC for this line? No new products.

How about we wait 9 more days before we go saying anything is dead.

It's fine there being further pieces from this line being produced but just look at the slating this line gets for every piece put out.

"The face sculpt is wrong", or the "paint will need to be done again" or the clothing is not weathered quite right............need I go on?

These things I know for a fact. I have read so much of it on this board.

By all means wait the 9 more days, then see a spectacular mad rush to buy the things then when the time comes to shipping listen to the slating these products will get.

I can't recall who said it but it is an oft quoted fact that "history repeats itself."

No-one likes the Lord of the Rings lines more than myself. I can't afford the space or the money to buy them all but I have a very large collection of the SSW pieces, Lurtz PF and have ordered the new GtG bust. These are, for different reasons, classics in my opinion. Unfortunately, the 12" line (and I have all 4 exclusives to press) simply is not in the same league. RIP.

That sounds like the standard reaction. You find the same thing in every line. SW is much worse as far as criticisms go and SW aint going anywhere.

(ps I don't mean to be rude, but do you read much around here)

Just because folks complain doesn't mean the line is bad. People complain about all kinds of things and it doesn't stop it. For the most part people seem to be happy with what they're getting.

As final product goes the Faramir paint aps were by far the worse of the previous releases. The previous released figures had pretty good paint aps. The costuming on each figure has been top notch (I don't think anyone who owns any of these figures can say other wise), the face sculps (IMO) have all been pretty good (even Aragorn, though I know there are those that would disagree with me). Overall the line has been really, REALLY good. When you compare them to other 12-inch figures in other lines I'd say that overall they beat out other licenses in costuming/accessories and at times paint applications (with acceptions of course).

Another thing to remember is that these figures look almost 10 times better in person than in photos (though I think that may not really be the case with many people's Faramirs).

No, your not being rude it is a fair question. In answer, I read a fair amount but not every thread.

I do have a keen interest in the Lord of the Rings lines though and check out most threads on these. I had a lot of confidence in this 12" line when it was first launched but have gradually lost faith in Sideshow's capability to deliver this medium of collectible to an acceptible 'Collectibles' standard. I guess what I am really getting at is the fact that this line is not a 'Collectibles' line. There are far too many imperfections and as such I for one am classing it as a 'dead' line.

That sucks you're pulling out of 1:6 LOTR. I think you are really missing out if you do. I like this line better than the SW line even. But I guess that just means more for the rest of us. :D

Even with Faramir if the skin tone wasn't shiny I would have been ok.

Ok, so IF the skin tone wasn't shiny it would have been OK

I am not one for getting into arguments about these things (you know that Josh :wave) but your statement just proves my point.:blissysmi

Issues are gonna happen. Does with anything cars, carpet, fridges, computers. No line is perfect. Doesn't mean anything is gonna just up and die.

I for one am seriously enjoying the Lord of the Rings line, though I don't and can't get them all at the moment. I know I'm probably in the minority (except for at least one other person I can think of), but so far Faramir has actually been my favorite figure, despite the not so accurate paint scheme.

I see the point people are making about the line being dead, but it's a fantastic line and I think to claim it dead or dismiss it too quickly is to really overlook a line that overall has delivered a great product and has even more potential.

If GTG is next, I'll be extraordinarily happy.

In my opinion, the LOTR 12" line is the best 12" line released by Sideshow yet. What pains us, the collectors the most, is the slow release and long wait between announcements. This only feeds our fustration, even taking into consideration the R&D involved.

This line has HUGE potential. It's new and fresh, never done before (for the most part). The Star Wars line can't say that.

As for Fararmir, it's unfortunately way more than simply some shiny paint tones. The paint apps were simply not to the usual SS standard. Colors were incorrect and applied sloppily. The rest of the figure was simply amazing, which only made it even more fustrating.

Looks like it is time to eat my hat (if I had one).

Just received Faramir, and yes, it looks rather good.

:D
