I think Lucas has a sense of humor, but he isn't really good at being funny. His appearance on The Colbert Report was a good example of that. He was trying too hard.

I mean his intent may not have been to insult. If by silly he meant that there isn't much of a story to it then he may not have meant it in an insulting way, just commenting that there is alot of whipped cream and very little pie. I know that's not generally what people mean by silly, but everyone sticks their foot in their mouth on occasion.
