When this gets blown out for $144 at Spook 2016, I'm so there.
Unless Hot Toys comes out with their own Red Five that blows this one out of the water by then.

240....pass. Hope ssc reads this thread.....
I don't think they care. They calculate these things and know better where the market is then we do. There's some reason they slapped $240 on this piece. Really doesn't make sense.
But I don't care. Don't need it. Hope it sends a signal, whatever that means. Be happy if they got stuck with a ton of them and then lowered the price in a year and a half... but its unlikely since they preorder now to gauge their edition size, so they'll likely make fewer of these then usual.
Yeah they might make a smaller run based on PO's unless they have that number set in stone already.

Unfortunately I think this could very well happen and then the figure will be hard to find and be worth twice the price!

Nor did I. I figured HT would charge $229.99 actually for a single. So they still came in under what I expected. For a very reusable figure. But again this is the lead-in. I expect prices to steadily increase.
I'm serious about Vader being $399.99
I'm thinking Luke/Leia set -- if there is one -- will push the $500 mark like Chewie/Han.
And Grievous did cost over $100.
No, Jabba doesn't stink anymore. He did. And he was slimy/greasy for awhile in places. He's a great sculpt, with silly little moveable arms and a terrible paint job. $129.99 in 2007. He was way ahead of his time.
I don't think Luke and Leia will be $500, but probably about the same as Han and Chewie...
I never felt bad on Jabba... I guess I just accepted he was a one-off sculpt, came in a big box and therefore cost more The throne was a bit of a tough pill to swallow, but I went in on the whole kit and kaboodle and never really questioned it.
Other than Igor the most expensive Iron Man figures have been the Mark XLII and the Iron Patriot which both came in around $310. A lot of the armors are close to the $275-$300 mark. I don't think Vader will go above $300 but who knows. Many Iron Man figures are over $300, aren't they? I see Vader as in that league. Maybe they'll do a die cast Vader to push the price.
Point is, they want to figure out ways to push the price, not lower it.
But Han/Chewie were $480... so close to $500 already.
The Jabba throne was even worse, but I didn't get it so I never count that. But for a hollow piece of plastic -- like anything you'd find at TRU for $20-$30, despite the superior sculpt, $129.99 was way over the top. At best that's an $80 plastic toy.
But I paid and am happy with it. I really like Jabba. But I have no misconception that I was ripped off big time.
