I still hope Gibson gets his groove back. He said some stupid ****, but, as Hollywood transgressions go, there have certainly been far worse.

Depends on what you mean by a Hollywood transgression. Making negative comments about Jews is about as bad as it gets for some there. Polanski was still winning Oscars after having sex with a 13 year old, but I doubt Gibson will get that opportunity.
