Top half of that poster is cool, don't care for the Fast and Furious type lettering. I'd like a Horizontal blunt and bold MAD MAX instead.

I really do hope hot toys gives us something from this or the past movies!!
Just 4 days til it releases here!!

I think the film is going to bomb. Mad Max will probably open in second or third place and die shortly after. The movie has no legs with 90% of people under 40, and the majority of the original target audience feel the new movie is inauthentic.

I think its going to be successful, it might not have a huge opening but its the only R rated blockbuster coming out, the trailers have been great and if the word of mouth is good enough that will give it its legs.

I could be wrong, AOU underperformed again this weekend from what most "experts" had predicted it was going to make, so "Max" might have a chance next week, if Ultron's domestic numbers keep dropping they way the have so far.

What is the estimate? I predicted this will make alot less than the first after I saw it- before I saw it I thought it would be even bigger

The estimate for the weekend was 85-90, but it looks like is going to make around $77 mill, which is less than the $103 from the first film. It's doing better internationally compared to the first film, and it hasn't opened in China yet, which is the biggest foreign market. The film won't makes as much as the first domestically, but China might come to the rescue.

I'm afraid as good as MMFR will be... it will flop at the box office- it's not a superhero film unfortunately

Yeah, there are several factors, imo. The marketing seems to focus more on the actress (forgot her name) and not MAX, the main character that the film is named after. IMO, that's because Tom Hardy is not a box office draw. The second factor, the budget. It has a $150 mill budget, and it doesn't count the amount of money that the studio spent on reshoots and marketing, which means they probably spent over $200 million. Third factor, the competition. Not just AOU, but Tomorrow Land and every other summer film that's coming out. And the last factor, the film itself and fanbase. I don't see it being very appealing internationally, and domestically, the target audience are adults of a certain age, which is why they released the "legacy" trailer showing scenes from the old films, so I'm not sure who their target audience is besides fans of the original film, since nostalgia seems to be a major factor. And also, isn't the film rated R? Hopefully it does well.

None of the Mad Max films were blockbusters, even adjusted for inflation. The $150m budget is a headscratcher but the flick should do decent money world wide.

Being a wild action flick that doesn't have men in tights could make it a bit of a wild card.

Well Kingsman was an R-rated big budget movie that was very successful. Hopefully it's the beginning of a trend.

My hope is that the gorgeous visuals and post-apocalyptic insanity will be enough to get the hyper Michael Bay crowd drawn in, and, hopefully, it will be awesome enough to jumpstart the word of mouth that will get ***** in seats.
