Those cars are schweet. I would definitely drive them, especially the one on the left, which is a bit more understated.

As to whether they are the right car for MAX to drive, I dunno. Maybe they need some dust on 'em. The jury is out, I will wait to see more.

Here's hoping the filming will be safer than the original Road Warrior, which iirc still holds the record for most people badly injured during a movie shoot.

I will watch this, unless its just unbearably stupid.... which I hope it isn't, seriously. I like Max and am willing to give someone else a chance in the role.

Well, no, they really don't. I will agree to that one. BUT.... they're probably what we're getting, so I say go with the lesser of two evils and pick the one on the left, because the lightning on the right is just a little too corny for the franchise.

Take the one on the left, add scratches, dings and a liberal coating of dust. I think that would help suitability a lot.

And you thought you’d seen the last of the V8 Interceptors.
Everyone’s favorite post-apocalyptic renegade police officer, Mad Max, is set to return to the silver screen just in time for the real-world apocalypse that’s rumored to arrive in 2012. Mel Gibson won’t be reprising his role this time around – instead, he’ll be played by up and coming British hunk Tom Hardy - but that’s ok because, for many fans, Mel wasn’t the star of the original films, anyway.
Instead, it was the heavily modified 1973 XB Ford Falcon GT coupe that Max drove in the first two films in the series, “Mad Max,” and “Mad Max: The Road Warrior.” The high-performance Pursuit Special based on a homegrown Australian muscle car that was once Down Under’s answer to the Mustang.
To celebrate the reboot of the film franchise, Ford and TopGear Australia magazine have unveiled a pair of design proposals and are asking Aussie fans to vote for their favorite, in hopes one of them will be used in the new movie, “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
Far more futuristic than the original, neither is based on an existing car, but both come packing plenty of high-tech highway battle equipment, including tazers to take down motorcycle riding bad guys, spiked wheels to tear the tires of attacking vehicles and titanium body panels to shield the car from police scanners…uh, isn’t Max supposed to be the cop?
One of the designs even puts the driver's seat in the center of the vehicle, perfect for a loner.
Unlike the cars, details on the film are still mostly under wraps, but it is believed to be a sequel that takes place just three years after Tina Turner's character left Max to wander the desert alone at the end of 1985’s “Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.”
By the looks of these cars, things have gotten a lot better for him in those three years.

Spider-Man didnt need a remake either, but look what happened.

I am expecting remakes of Alien, Aliens, Blade Runner, The Exorcist, Dune, X-Men, Transformers and a slew of others, any minute now. I almost added The Evil Dead to this list, but I remembered they're in the process of remaking that as I type.

All the onset pictures ive seen, ive yet to see those 2 cars, Max's interceptor looks the same car as he had in The Road Warrior.

Its not a remake, its set between the 2nd and 3rd movies. You can call it a reboot as we're going back in time a bit and theres a new actor in the leading role.

The Interceptor was destroyed in Road Warrior (remember it wasn't only totaled in a crash, but exploded). How is it magically reappearing if this film is set between Road Warrior and Thunderdome?

Yeah, I'm getting more of a Knight Rider vibe from these things than a properly post-apocalyptic Mad Max. They have "factory made" written all over them. Awesome looking cars though.

The 2 'futuristic' cars arn't in the movie.

They were designs from Ford Australia to celebrate the return of mad max. just a re-imagining of the original interceptor.

it was a puplicity stunt, the cars will be inline with what is expected based on the original movies.
