I actually like the blue sheen on the stripes as opposed to the traditional black . It helps blend the other colors of the costume well :clap

The one color I would change is the silver for the claws. It looks like cheap toyish metal. I think they should’ve went for a lighter shade of silver :lecture

I’ll never trash the brown or yellow ML Wolverine because for $20 freaking dollars they can’t be touched especially their latest release the ears were the only minor issue yes minor issue.

This mafex looks cool but he’s too lanky he needs more mass in his arms and legs and the long ears and blades don’t help any as they make him look even more thinner.

I've been looking at old early 90's comics, and the stripes look blue sometimes? Now I'm confused. My wolverine toy had the black lines, so did the cartoon version, but in the comics the tiger stripes look blue...but sometimes black.

Which is it? What's the correct color? :gah:

I ain't gonna knock you, if you wanna ride hasblows coattails. Marvel letdowns are littered with qc issues and if you think otherwise, you're delusional.

Black. The correct color is black.

Black. The correct color is black.

That's how I remember him, but then I look at these pics, and I can kind of understand why a foreign company might give the stripes a metallic blue color instead of black.

I still wish they were black, but I can better understand why they might either make a mistake...or simply tried to give it that bluish color from the comics, instead of flat black.

Also, if you look at the comic pics, Wolverine's hair has a blue color, which was common in comics to give black a blue tint for some reason, but if you look at the hair on the mafex figure, it also has a blue color.

Yeah in the comics it was a bluish tint for the stripes and in the 90s cartoon it was pure black

So then we can all agree they should be black.

The mask having the blue tint is a good point. The figure doesn't have a blue mask...maybe that would have been too much blue. I don't know what to think. Either they made a mistake, or they purposefully give it blue stripes to replicate the blue from the comics.

I guess it all depends on what their goal is? The official color is black, but do they look solid black in the comics? No, not always. So if their goal is to make a comic accurate looking figure, should they go for the official color in reality or how it looks on the actual comics because of the artistic choices or techniques used by the artists? Personally, I prefer black, because that's how I remember him from the cartoons and toys.

Either way I see it as a mistake. There's no other attempt to shade "comic accurate" colors anywhere else on the figure. If they were truly comic accurate it would be a combination of blue and black and there's no point in trying to replicate shading on a 3D model.

Then how do you explain the blue and black hair? It could be just bad execution.

The figure doesn't come out for a year, so there is time for them to make changes to the color. Then again, Mafex is infamous for releasing 2.0 and 3.0 updated figures, so it wouldn't surprise me if they made one with the black stripes.

Correct there are figures out there specifically created to recreate comic/cinema shading, Spawn and Predator comes to mind, but either do it all or nothing.

But lol at Clown’s so accurate it’s wrong post made me laugh.

Clown be like “I might just want a half assed shaded figure” lol
