I am curious. If there are those who are concerned about not being able to afford the figures if the prices go up, why don't you just get a higher-paying job.

It is not like that is an impossibility.

Like a lobster slowly boiling in a pot, most people get comfortable with their crumby jobs working for miserly employers. I've always had a means of survival outside of my paychecks and I have jumped ship more times than I would like to admit. It has led me to greener pastures (Union Pipeliner), but not without the pains of uncertainty that most would be unable to cope with. That's how I have always looked at it.
Laziness would be the other explanation.

Not really feelin the EX version. Only reason I would want to order the EX is to get the figure the very next day after it ships. Will probably get the regular version but have to wait for a longer delivery time due to buying it from another retailer. But we'll see.

Certainly not an impossibility, but I like what I do and am good at it. I'd rather quit collecting than quit my job. Collecting is such a small part of my life compared to being satisfied in a job.

There are finally talks of raises of a whopping 1.5% raise next July with the fiscal year, about 4 years since the last raises.

I'm sure they'll find a way to squash that.

Well, that is a reasonable argument, but one that doesn't take into account other considerations.

I work with a government contractor, and have been employed with them for eight years. I could jump ship and go to a higher paying contractor...but then I would lose eight years of seniority. I bought a house this year, and I'm certain that my eight eight years at my employer was a factor in me being approved (a sign of a stable job).

My employer has placed us on a 35 hour work week due to budget issues with the various contracts the company I work for has (end of the fiscal year, plus uncertainty on the next administration ). Luckiliy, I have a ton of leave banked to allow me to still get paid my 40 hours a week.

Plus my employer allows me to work a flex schedule. I work two or three hours at home before I head into the office, and I don't have to deal with traffic.

Sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side.

Yep. I'd prefer to stay with a known quantity.

But how about Bludd, huh? That sabot gun is all types of awesome.

Ditto. I mentioned that I bought a house this year, and I liquidated A LOT of my collection to raise some extra cash for new furniture, etc...sold a number of polystone statues and PFs, as well as a large part of my Hot Toys collection...

But I don't miss any of it at all. It's surprising how liberating letting go is.

And not to sound sacrilegious...but I've honestly been thinking of throwing in the towel on the Joe line and liquidating my collection as well.

Computers, why kids made fun of my when I was younger. EVERYONE is using something I programed.

I can say I never had any job I did not like. I am retried I am living my childhood (only I have the cash to do it with), Taking care of my Daughter and Cooking (I work 3 months out of the year).

I can say there are many lazy people out there that seem to want to work but only work for a lot of money. I can say I never really do understand why someone would stay doing something they did not like. If you get up and say. I have to go to work and think about not going. Time to fine something else.

BTW Playing games (Debugging) is not as fun as people think.

Been done, they call it a gas fee or a bill paying fee.
