I really wish Hot Toys left the Joes alone. Now Sideshow has even more reasons to back away. They should be revving this up! Bludd has got to be their best yet. Baroness is pretty damn good too. More please!

Makes me wonder if they pushed him back to allow HT some attention for the movie line.

Even if a rep did come in, which they likely won't, you'd have to take whatever they said with a grain of salt. I remember when they said they were gonna finish the fellowship. Or how the Dead line was gonna continue in 1/6. Neither happened. They also said the were gonna do Jason's from every movie. Didn't happen.

Sideshow's word, not worth much

Yup. :(

Yeah, the Joe line will be back. As BM said they're way too into that line not to keep it going. The DC line is gonna get some love because of the effort being put into getting it and getting them out. They worked hardcore to get the figures at comic-con ready for that event. So patience is the key.

Side note: Sideshow has said they will complete The Fellowship in the statue line. We're just one statue away at this point but I don't recall anything about the figure line. I've slept a little so I am probably wrong. I do believe The Dead will be back even if its just one every once in a while.

Yeah, they said the Fellowship could come in 1/6 when they sold out. Well they sold out and no Fellowship. Then they said they'd finish it in PFs. Like that happened. :lol Now the statues. Hell, I'm still waiting on the next Indy figure you and Carl were soooooooooooooo adamantly declaring would see the light of day... three years ago. :lol

Oh yeah, I forgot about Sideshow promises of more Indy figures.

Buttly and Josh aren't objective with Sideshow, they blur the lines between company and personel. I'm sure everyone at Sideshow are great people and what not, but that does not mean they are without fault as a company.

Indeed.

To some extant I think Sideshow shot themselves in the foot with their impeccable awesomeness as a company early on. I've been a loyal Sideshow buyer for over ten years and remember the days when it was very much the "mom & pop shop" atmosphere. As they grew, they continued to try and have that feel, but its just not feasible to keep that fan interaction and grow as they have. There was a time when if a Sideshow rep said something, it was as good as gold, not anymore. Not ever close, and it hasn't been for a number of years now. And as they've grown they are taking on more big business practices such as lacking customer interaction, loyalty and service. They are still head and shoulders above the competition in these areas, but they are a far cry from what they were just five years ago. They'd be better off to say nothing at all, then tell people what they wanna hear and then not deliver.

As they have grown we have gotten bigger and better licenses like Joe and now DC, and better products, but they have also been some significant growing pains along the way. Anyone who doesn't see that is not being objective. One part of me wishes they were still that small company, but I know we would still be getting off the radar licenses and lower quality products, and I definitely don't want that.

I want MORE F'N JOES! :cuss

I'm pretty darn sure the only line they've said the Fellowship would be completed (saying those type of words) is the statue line. The figures they joked about the macaroni and such would help but I don't recall them saying other stuff. I don't know what to tell you about Indy other than he got moved down the food chain. My guess is because of things like the Joe line.

That's the misconception so many of you have. It's funny honestly to me. I've always voiced my complaints behind closed doors so assuming I don't complain at all is silly. Yes, I know the folks and I've become friends with them but I do not think/nor have I said they're perfect. So that would be an incorrect assumption about the situation.

I think the resources are getting stretched thin.
They are advertising here trying to find new costumers. I see that as bottle neck for the development of the new figures. They have a lot of sculptors over there that can do 1:6 heads and at the same time statues, but costumes in 1:6 are a different skill set.

I hope the Joe line gets going again strong soon. Waiting sucks. Just one statue away from the Fellowship and its a pain waiting. :lol

Its an easy "misconception" to have, but we've been down this road a million times in the last seven years. To me you will always be Sideshow's number one apologist and to you I will always be awesome and amazing. :duff

:wink1:

No, I agree. Sideshow has had quite a few missteps lately, I'll admit that. I think its no secret that 1:6 is no longer one of their flagship items as it used to be. Its all about the poly now. I'm not sure how to describe it. I know they still love the scale and doing the figures, but I guess they just aren't as profitable as the poly items are (nearly everything is molded, no sewing required?). So I don't know if its that or what. There was a time Sideshow was better than HT in 1:6 scale. While HT is definitely on top of that now, Sideshow's figure are great for the price, an nowhere near crap most of the time. Every now and then they get a figure stuck with their crappy painting factory or having new body issues, but its nowhere near Enterbay's QC problems. :dunno

And of course Spooktacular was laughable this year compared to its glory days. That was a major blow to me this year :slap

I concur.

I've experienced & seen similar instances with other companies in varying degrees.

I'm of the mindset that no matter how big a company is . . . don't ever forget to appreciate and interact with your loyal customer base.

Granted, it can be impossible at times for a variety of reasons. The companies are not in business to placate us, but in business to make $. They simply want our $ . . . which is the bottom line. With that said, there are methods on how companies acquire our $ . . . none of which spells out they absolutely have to keep us 100% satisfied, but close enough or marginally enough.

Look @ DML. They are nowhere near the diversity or output of Sideshow, but they keep a very simple formula when it comes to 1:6. Keep on producing 1:6 German (and Allied) figures. Granted, it's a tired formula, but it still works for them and they have branched out into different themes every now & then. Their customer/fan base is just as dedicated & loyal as Sideshow's with it's quirks and all.

One company I personally know told me if they interacted with their customers/fans all day, then they would not be able to get any work done for the company given their size & limited means.

Given the mindset & variety of views expressed within this forum, we are in all honesty a very fickle bunch and the perception can come off at times where we are way too demanding & picky, but the argument to that is . . . it's our $ . . . considering it's our $ . . . we have the right to be demanding.

Granted, it's subject to interpretation . . . however . . . the perception is the reality. Moreover, just look at threads & responses within this section & elsewhere for other licenses. Would Sideshow really . . . really . . . want to post and possibly add more fuel to the fire with any type of response?

The last time I was so incensed about QC was when the 1:6 TOMB RAIDER figure came out and I called Customer Service to voice my complaint and request a replacement. Their Customer Service took care of the issue in all fairness. I don't think Sideshow can continue to rest on the laurels of their Customer Service to make up for short comings in a variety of areas even though many collectors/customers continue to buy their offerings coming off as drones regardless of price, etc.

Yes. We can & will continue to always complain about whatever, but will the majority of us posting really stop buying because of QC, price, etc. compared to those who buy who don't even participate within this forum let alone maybe aware of this forum who may not necessarily be as enlightened when it comes to price, QC, etc.?

The problem is always the same with SSC, they bite off more than they handle, which will always leave a certain collector base aggravated. Especially when they start and dont finish, which they have done time and time again.

A simple, "not to worry the Joe line is not dead, we have just had to focus on other areas for the last year but 2013 with have some great releases."

IMO to do that it isnt that hard and goes a lot farther in keeping your supporters happy.

HT suffers from that a lot more than Sideshow. HT won't even round off the 'essential' GI Joe figures in their line. They always leave a key character out. Sideshow at least hits most of the big names before slowly stopping. HT didn't even start with the big names with Watchmen :lol
