ONE MORE GAME BABY!!!!!

Go Phillies, send the whiny ^^^^^ home for the season :rock

You know, I'm fine with losing if we play our best and lose, but it's like the Pats and the superbowl all over again, dig hard all year long and when it really counts, roll over and die. They're better than they're playing the last 2 nights, maybe still not enough to beat Tampa, but they can go out a lot better than this if they're going to lose the series.

I'm just going to come out and say it, BENCH ORTIZ!!!!

He's been worthless the past two months. I mean how many times does he have to roll over on a pitch or pop up before they realize he's not helping the team. He's missing pitches he used to punish and it's costing them the series.

I've been having that argument with a co-worker, he keeps throwing out the how do you bench one of the leagues clutch hitters blah blah blah, I say easy, he sucks balls the last few months and you'll get a better at bat from Sean Casey if you give him some swings. Papi and Beckett both have some serious psychological issues to get over with their injuries, but they're useless for the rest of this year.

I was joking with my friend today that I'd rather have Kevin Cash DHing and guess who homered today

I have faith in Papi and Beckett for next year, but something's wrong with them both this year and it's time to stop playing PR and do what's right for the team and not a few players' egos. Wakefield stepped aside last year for the World Series, let Papi step aside cuz he knows it's best.

I've been frustrated with Varitek for a while now. When was the last time that guy got a clutch hit of any kind?

I've been defending Varitek for a few years now, but I have to agree with folks, his bat's pretty much gone, and after the past few games, you have to wonder how much more his arm and glove will be there. I'd love to see him take a coaching position with the team, but I think next year might be time to start working on Cash taking over the main catcher's position.

The other thing about 'Tek is what has always been the best aspect of his game (calling the pitches and knowing opposing batters' tendencies) has also slipped a good deal as well. Indeed, it might be time for him to consider hanging up the cleats.

The wheels have completely come off. :yuck

hairlesswookiee, I suggest you not twist the knife further. Ever heard of a Southie Slugger? :tap

^^^what?? i swore a lot of people were talking trash last week about the Rays not being able to handle boston. now that they are straight up being bent over...in their home field, nobody wants to hear it???

I don't start trash talk, I've seen how these sports threads get, and besides, much as I love my team, I respect the others they play, and if anything, I've trashed my own team the last few days. Rays have a good club and Sox are playing like ^^^^, they're getting what they deserve, but I'd like to see them wise up and play like they're capable of.

I'm enjoying the Boston train wreck, but I've kept my mouth shut because my team of choice (the Brewers) had no business even being in the playoffs. :monkey2
