I don't agree with that. At least he ultimately fessed up to some wrongdoing. Most guys who've juiced have never admitted to it and never will. And in football the problem is a lot more pervasive than baseball, so if you're gonna rank players in terms of dishonesty, I gotta figure McGuire is way down that list. That doesn't mean he isn't to be reviled for what he did and stood for, but McGuire is so well known because he is a symbol of the problem and because he profited so heavily from using. Not because he was the worst liar.hes been one of the most dishonest atheletes of our generation
As for why the MLB let him coach, it's fairly obvious to me that they didn't treat the steroid issue as a major problem on the order of gambling and they probably never will. The logic is probably something along the lines of--enhancing your body artificially is one thing; the possibility that someone will not be playing to win for the purpose of monetary gain is something else entirely.
