25 years ago on a cold Saturday night in New York, the Mets Mookie Wilson hit a ball that rolled through Billy Buckner's legs...

It enabled the Mets to win that game six of the World Series and then go on two nights later to win game seven and secure their second world championship ever.

Tonight, the St. Louis Cardinals' David Freese went from possibly becoming this generation's Billy Buckner to being one of the greatest heroes in World Series history...

Amazing isn't.

I dont like the arrogance of some of the cardinals fans both at the stadium and in this thread its not like you won the world series and tonight it can get very quiet and all of game 6 will be forgotten when sea of blue celebrates on the mound.

shut up quiggle.

Amazing game last night. Glad a game 7 is on the way. Saw that no road team has won a game 7 the last 30 years.

Baseball is a wonderful game.

this is off topic but since youre in colorado can you help me with something? Ill send you a PM, thanks.

i normally hate the word choke when used in championship scenarios, but that was a choke for the ages.

that was the difference between a franchise with 10 world titles and a franchise with 0. i honest to god have no clue how we can possibly bounce back from this to win game 7

this is why it should be mandatory for ALL baseball stadiums to have retractable roofs because how can you let nature decide the course of the games especially championships, no wonder they dont do winter states for Super Bowls.

yes it did if it wasnt for that rainout for the initial game 6 you would be planning ticker tape parade. too many playoffs games get ruined by the rain its not the hottest team going in the playoffs that win series but those who benefit from the weather.

why would you think it would have been any different if the game was played wednesday instead of thursday? i'm sorry, but i'm not really following you here. both teams got an extra days rest so it's not like anyone had an unfair advantage

That's a silly post. Did 20+ titles prevent the Yankees from choking to the Red Sox???

The history has nothing to do with it...and IMO it wasn't a horrible choke job because every inning except the 11th the Rangers overcame their pitching staff's mistakes. That takes heart.

It was just a weird and excellent game altogether. Don't over analyze it with nonsense. I have no idea who will win the 7th.

that is even more silly. :slap:slap

I cant wait for your reactions after Texas wins the World Series tonight, just to humble you a notch.

and dont give that with the Yankees choking, when you play a juiced team like the Red Sox in 2004. lets see scrawny Manny or Papa hit a not even a squibbler at Mo cutter

i don't think it's "silly", but ok

my point was that the term choke is now applied to everyone that loses a championship game, but i did feel that last night was indeed a choke. from elvis not throwing to 2nd base in the 8th, to cruz not getting to a ball that he normally gets to in the 9th. i don't think we even need to dive into the fragile mind of feliz. IMO that was their shot and they let it slip away. i fully expect an energized cardinals team to come out tonight and lay a whoopin on us.

this if from different sport but if you really want to apprecaite a CHOKE job fast forward to this classic at 4:45

I'm rooting for the Rangers. :slap

mikedanger, the term "choke" could have easily applied to the Cardinals in the same game. So many errors, Holliday getting picked off 3rd. I don't think Texas choked it away. They didn't lay down and let themselves get run over. They built their leads back even after losing them.

It just worked out they lost. Again, I am not sure if the Rangers will win or lose tonight, but I don't think last nights game (aside from the various injuries) will be directly impact it either way. Look at how the Rangers bounced back from the drubbing earlier in the series.

Each game, 1 at a time.

The big question is will Napoli, Cruz, Holliday, etc play?

Maybe Cards fans hope Holliday doesn't....:lol

And the Yankee teams of 1996-present have been totally clean?

Do the '03 Yankees make a comeback without the aide of 2 solo homers from a juiced to gills Jason Giambi?

I never said they were they are just as guilty especially Paul O'Neal, no sane person would throw helmets like he did. another reason to root against the Cardinals tonight is because I dont want to see McWire get a title, hes been one of the most dishonest atheletes of our generation and it mystifies me why baseball lets him back in but ban Pete Rose.
