Yeah, not playing for a week I think killed the tigers momentum and may have ruined a much better series.

Wow, congrats to the Giants fans, especially Flosi! Hope you can get some rest after celebrating last night! :hi5:

2012 was some fun postseason baseball to watch, especially if you're a fan of the game.

One last note...Avfin - don't get too down about this one. The Tigers had a great season (especially storming back to knock off the White Sox), and they were one of the final two teams...that's quite an accomplishment! The other positive nugget - you get that money back for Game 5! Hopefully you didn't sell off too many body parts and can now use that cash on your fam for Christmas! :1-1:

Something should be said for the Tigers facing the A's with Verlander getting two starts in a five game series then facing a dead Yankees team that was trying to figure out how to play without Jeter.

Really, most of the best, most exciting, baseball was played in the NL playoffs.

Not taking anything away from the Tigers, though. A sweep can be a lot closer than people assume, and three of the four games were nail biters.

5 in a row. Never imagined it when he came up, especially given the history of his brothers. I thought he would be good, not borderline HOF.

Back when Yadi was a rookie ('04), we were staying at the hotel across from the ballpark during the World Series. The day after game 4, my friend and I came down a side elevator for breakfast and saw Yadi standing with his two brothers to the right side. My buddy asked me "aren't you gonna get the flying Molina brothers on a ball?" :)lol always loved that phrase - flying Molina brothers). I said "nah, I only have one ball left and need to wait just in case."

My friend never lets me forget it, and I'm sure I'll be getting a call from him today to pour fresh salt into the wound. :lol

My man Cargo didn't deserve it, but got one anyway. Personally felt he coasted in the OF and didn't really hustle. Still better than 90% of the OFs even at half speed. :lol

The Tigers did play a dead Yankees team and all of those games (except game 4) were close and if the Yanks had any life in them, they could have easily been up 3 games to 1 after game 4.

The most exciting part of this years post season was the all 4 division series and the NLCS. Great drama in those 5 series!

How do people feel about getting rid of divisions? In that scenario the Tigers #7 in the AL don't even sniff Uncle Bud's coin flip game.

I'd be in favor of it, but I know it'd probably never fly due to travel, balancing the schedule and plethora of other issues.

I think you would drive a stake into the heart of the small to mid-market teams.

I still haven't checked out all of the latest agreement, but the previous version handed out something like over half of playoff gate proceeds for the first 3-4 games in each series to the players of those games. The FO of those teams gets another huge chunk (the commissioner's office gets 10-20%...don't recall the exact number). That's a very nice incentive for teams who miss out on a TV contract windfall.

On the other hand, you may force the cheapskate owners from the business by potentially cutting off another revenue stream that lines their greedy pockets. :lol

I'd never get rid of divisions altogether, but I wouldn't argue against going back to 2 divisions like they had 20 years ago.

That would mess up the new playoff format though, unless they added yet another team to each league's playoff format. Have the 4 wild card teams play 1 game play ins. Winners face the division winners.

But the fight to be a division winner is too fun to get rid of. I like the idea of playing for that flag and even if you lose in the playoffs you still can call yourself division champ.

The marlins are a joke

Actually they are pretty smart, sort of....they have 2 WS's in the last 15 years. They bought a WS in 97....sold off all those players for young prospects....won the WS in 04....sold off all those players....needed a new stadium...bought more players and once they did it for a year traded them all away....I guarantee you the owner of the Marlins is raking it in...even though they have had one of the worst attendance records in all of MLB....

No, not really. Fans don't care if the owner is "raking it in." Fans want a winning product on the field. Of course management makes this trade after receiving season ticket deposits for next season. Fans are screwed.

on top of that, the city & county dropped a total $360 million of taxpayer dollars on that new stadium
