Quite apart from anything else, the shots on this page have reminded me what an awesome creation the original Alien really was. It's been diminishing returns ever since really, and the modern take on the creature bears hardly any relation to the original. Such a shame.

What's really annoying is listening to ADI talk like they're being faithful to the origins and such, except the moment they took it from a biomechanical to a creature like anything else in Hollywood, it ignored it's origins. They didn't have to keep every last detail the same, but the should have retained the concept behind the look of the creature and it was tossed out. I like some of the designs as far as creature design goes, but as an ALIEN, i dislike them, if that all makes any sense.

Totally agree with there you there man! ADI really did stear off on the wrong direction! It's great to see sculpters using the old visuals. Biomechanical detailing and such.

Bri:D

Well...huge props to my man Dan!

I can't believe I missed this discussion, but I've got to give it to ya dude...you proved your point.

Leave it to the die hard Alien fans...we know what we're talking about. :D

And dude...shades of the ol' Bio discussion on the "B pose" Brett death. :rotfl:rotfl

Now...I want you to NOT pause the movie, and try to find the skull. Is it in there? Yes, but its hard to see, and when you do "see" it, its still very hard.

Regardless, I dont like seeing that skull.

I've said it before, but from Resurrection onwards they just became Velociraptors in Space. I've got a lot of time for what Cameron did, purely because the movement and sheer terror he created was a good take on the Alien idea, and I can see why the Dragon might have its fans (although personally I don't like it much). But after that they just lost all menace and crucially all weirdness. They're now just any old monster.

100% truth. Agreed.

Well I guess you could stick the bust in a poorly lit environment (like the movie). That way the skull won't be as obvious. I mean in The Dark Knight we hardly got any clear shots of the new Batsuit......doesn't mean the Batman figures we get should be devoid of all the details because we didn't get a good look at it in the movie.

Good point. That comment came off kinda smugish, so I couldnt just let it be. But yeah, I got ya, you made a good point, and followed through with it.

Smugish?!? Me?!?

NEVER!

I'm just always right. :D

Just kidding by the way.

Oh its all good, I just got this thing with the words "Hard core" "True fans" "real fans"...ect.

IMDB thing. Drives me nutso.

I edited my original post in this thread. Apparently, the production Cinemaquette Alien has a much clearer dome than the prototype on the Cinemaquette web site. I think the prototype looks better.
