What is it with the current trend of taking iconic heroes and throwing in a part where they look dirty and homeless?

First Bond in Die Another Day, then Wayne in Batman Begins, now Superman in Man of Steel. I can't wait to see Peter Parker living on the streets in The Amazing Spiderman.
