I still like the "no speedo" look. Sorry, underwear-style like that worked back in the day, but modern times it looks silly. A lot of characters have changed their looks to get rid of it even. Wolverine's newer "Astonishing" blue & yellow outfit replaced his old one and is a great design and removed the old speedo look as well. Few costumes from early superheroes are truly "timeless" and have made it to modern times (and TV/Movies) with few changes. Spider-man is a prime example. But there's also others like the Flash (Just to give a nod to DC!).
Keep in mind this is a Superman "reboot", so it's not to say that if it is successful that a sequel will feature a slightly updated suit and who knows? Maybe element of the belt and speedo will make it in there. If they had to, I would rather see design red "stripes", kind of how they did the "belt" on the suit. But it isn't a modern look and overall will look silly when you're trying to take Superman seriously.
