Re: The Man of Steel

I'm really enjoying the tone you get from the trailer. It seems much more somber. You can almost see the weight on Clark's shoulders.

I know a lot of people were concerned that Superman seemed to be heading in a darker direction but I think it might surprise us and give us a better movie.

Marvel has the feel good superhero stuff down. I think DC could seriously benefit from taking their movies in a darker route. The Nolan Batman trilogy was excellent and Superman is at least looking like it could be amazing.

Can you imagine a Justice League movie with more Gravitas to all the heroes.

Re: The Man of Steel

Im really glad to see more positive feedback being given for this movie trailer, a few days ago it seemed like no one really cared for it and wrote the movie off simply because they didnt like the trailer.

Re: The Man of Steel

Still not actuality seeing the tone of the movie itself though? (although this is a lot better IMO)
That introspective photographic imagery seems contained with that dreamy teaser. The rest of the movie does not feel like that.

I would like to see some proper dialogue to get a feel before passing further judgement.

Strange they wanted to distance themselves so much from Donner's movies yet that sombre sad tone is very much at the heart of I & II and most obviously Returns?

I expected a bit more of a gritty reality to be shown first.
Synder's trailers are usually pretty great. Even Sucker Punch, but they normally don't represent the final product.

Re: The Man of Steel

After seeing the trailer before TDKR I really liked the (albeit quick) view of him flying... A very realistic (you'll actually believe a man can fly) vibe to it like what was accomplished in the Chronicle movie.

Re: The Man of Steel

ash! I know you know what I mean.
:lol

Sometimes Teasers give completely the wrong impression of the tone of a movie. It's only when the clips start to pop up online you know if it works or not.

This gives you ONE of the tonal aspects of the movie. It's just a simple teaser, not a preview of the film itself on the whole. The SDCC footage went much further, but still wasn't a clear snapshot of the entire thing.

Re: The Man of Steel

Underwear over your pants has always been a stupid idea to begin with anyway.

Just saying.

The shorts on the outside began because his costume was influenced by the circus strongmen that were still popular when Superman was created. It was a visual shorthand for underscoring to the reader that Superman was strong. I agree since almost nobody gets the visual reference today it's time to let it go.

Re: The Man of Steel

This movie can't get here fast enough. The trailer was epic, though short. I hope Sideshow makes a PF of Henry Cavill's Superman.

Sideshow does indeed have the specific MAN OF STEEL license. I imagine they'll at least be making a PF, if not more.
