Re: The Man of Steel

Must Nolans Batman spill over into every superhero movie thread. :thud:

It's getting tired, let it go FFS TDKR was not universally ****ing worshipped - get over it.

Re: The Man of Steel

If I accept everything else without question about TDKR, it still falls apart for me at the end. The entire nature of Bruce's character is called into question in those final minutes.

Considering Nolan's filmmaking skills are being used as a yardstick for every other director, it's not a stretch that it happens here too.

Re: The Man of Steel

I never said that...Dark story line where the situation/villain etc...Superman for today's audiences has to have conflict...It just cant be strictly good vs evil cartoon older comic version like...Nolan's TDK proved that...You need the boy scout facing real challenges, emotions where the audience relates
Isn't good vs. evil usually an idea rife with conflict? And how did Nolan's success prove that some alternative approach can't work? Frankly, I think a whimsical Superman on the order of Alan Moore's Supreme (probably the best Superman stories written in my lifetime despite not technically being Superman) could make as much money as "guilt-ridden alien freak who struggles with identity in world where he is feared more than loved," which is no doubt what a pure Nolan Superman would be. Avengers succeeded without taking the Nolan approach. Different approaches can work for different types of material.

I'm up for either, so long as Supes himself feels like a version of that character that makes sense. I realize that movie producers don't have enough faith in moviegoing audiences to really roll the dice.

:panic::panic::panic:

**** me the trailer can't come out soon enough so theres something else to talk about other than Christopher ****ing Nolan and his Batman films prior to which the film medium didn't exist for some evidently. Trailer is out in 6 days, I'll see you then.

AS LONG AS IT WORKS I'M GAME!...Um but isnt Nolan's name in here some where?...I do assume there will be some TDK qualities in there...unless Nam or Difabio stuck a gun to Nolan's head while filming I dont think there will be the alternative aproach...I'm working with what I got in front of me for now

Re: The Man of Steel

Looking forward to the trailer. From what I have seen in the past few months. Me personally I think we will finally get a Superman movie we can be proud of. No disrespect to Donner & Reeve.

Re: The Man of Steel

Sorry for asking but which movie will be showing the trailer?

Re: The Man of Steel

Damn the gauntlets make him look god like in Greek standards.
