Re: The Man of Steel

Interesting, it looks to be setting up the film as very dark.

It will probably be more meaningful once having seen the scene play out in full context, but like this it's like they are trying to cast him in a villainous light.

Same here, i'd especially love it if it was included in his ship and morphs to his size when he touches it

DARK IS GOOD!

Re: The Man of Steel

Superman is not a dark vigilante.

I never said that...Dark story line where the situation/villain etc...Superman for today's audiences has to have conflict...It just cant be strictly good vs evil cartoon older comic version like...Nolan's TDK proved that...You need the boy scout facing real challenges, emotions where the audience relates

So long as they are true to the character. I'm concerned they'll take a cynical view of Superman, which is what I always felt about Smallville. They never trusted that he would work on screen as originally created. 'No flights, no tights.' Those guys should have never been trusted with the character. I resent when TV or movie creators feel Superman needs to be 'fixed'.

I see your point but remember that a TV series is a long and drawn out thing and allows that stuff to get in...for this film they will have to I feel if they do it will have to be rather quick and resolved quickly...otherwise this film might very well fail...they only have 2 hours or so of screen time here...The film must still however be up to date in regards to issues...we are hoping for the best

Re: The Man of Steel

My other concern is some people believe the only decent Superman film in one where he gets in a ton of fights, that doing something heroic or noble isn't good enough.

I love that suit and Cavill is really growing on me as Supes :yess:

I wanna see him fight because we haven't seen a good toe-toe Superman fight on film

The fights in S2 were so tame, 4 was better in this regard but still :yuck

The fight against Doomsday in Superman: Doomsday was Perfect, he was beaten and we the audience felt it, the city decimated around him, and then the big payoff when Doomsday turned his attention to a crying little girl and Supes with every last bit of strength saved the day

It had a great action spectacle fight and a moment of excellent noble heroism. That's the recipe i wanna see in live-action

Admit it. You criticize TDKR more for its off-camera aspects than what actually ended up on film. You're irked at Nolan's ego ("our movie uses the most extras, bla bla bla,") the DP's ego ("Avengers cinematography sucked,") and the enthusiasm of it's fans to the point that you totally let it color your perception of the film. :lecture

If that's what you need to tell yourself to be more comfortable with the fact that I find TDKR the weakest film in its series, and not even close to the best film of 2012... knock yourself out. :lol

I have plenty of legitimate (if mild) concerns & issues with the movie itself without even considering the offscreen trivialities.

If you ask me, it's those who unequivocally love TDKR that frame the argument as something bigger and deeper than what we saw onscreen.

Well you have been very vocal about how put off you are by Nolan and his fans which seems to be why you've made such a big deal out of your "legitimate concerns and issues" that I haven't seen you make about other movies with *those same issues.* Just sayin'.
