Re: The Man of Steel

Were you a fan of CR Supes? (if not the movies than the portrayal of supes?) Was Brando's Jor-El, or Terrence Stamps Zod impressive to you? Curious.

Re: The Man of Steel

Ok those guys are like gods to me. And you don't have that to hold this to. But i am not either, i know this is going to be super different and i am looking forward to that.

Re: The Man of Steel

Damn straight. :rock

And I have to take back Terrence Stamp. His Zod was terrifying. (And Reeve definitely had his moments.) I can understand why people were as taken with the first two films, but they just didn't work for me. I'm jealous, and that's part of why I'm looking forward to this as much as I am.

Re: The Man of Steel

This movie's success or failure willbe expressed in terms of Costner screentime.

< 3 minutes: Great
< 6 minutes: Average
> 10 minutes: Coma

Re: The Man of Steel

The last trailer with that chick moaning still gives me goosebumps even after the 50th viewing.

I love how they end it with him and Lois grabbing hands and his cape closing off the screen, fin.

Then again TDKR trailer gave me goosebumps and we know how that ended up don't we.

That's exactly what i didn't like. But hey it's just a ****ing trailer. Look at the TPM teaser, probably the best teaser of all time IMO.

Re: The Man of Steel

Really? I was blowing my load all over back then. I was a heavy pot user at the time, dunno if that had anything to do with it.

Re: The Man of Steel

2.5 hours isn't a rumor. It's official.

ugh!!!!!!!!!

The thing with this is, many people mentioned pacing issues with long films (a la John Carter, let me also throw in Quantum Of Solace), but that's the trick...if they can get the pacing right then 2 1/2 hours will seem like nothing.

Re: The Man of Steel

Isn't Quantum Of Solace the shortest Bond film? :lol

Well that just shows how crappy the pacing was, it seemed to last forever...on and on action set piece with no let up or change of gears made it seem and ordeal rather than an enjoyable movie experience. It made it feel like it was terrible. And I still feel that after seeing it several times after too.

More to my point.

Re: The Man of Steel

I don't about you guys but I have been waiting nearly 30 years for this movie. The original reeve's movies came out when I was a kid. Saw superman 2 in theatre when I was like 3 or 4 and man did it make an impression on me. I can still watch the first 2 but obviously they no longer have the same effect (effects and lack of real action overtime have gotten to me I guess).

I had great expectations for superman returns at first until I found out it was a continuation of the reeves films. I mean how do you let 20 plus years pass, change actors and expect people to feel the same connection to that original character and films that proceeded it. it had failure written all over it. I did watch it however and much like the first 2 it lacked real action, had no character development (supes said like 4 lines the whole movie), and as expected felt disconnected. It is better then superman 3 and 4 but that ain't saying much.

Hopefully this movie does this great character justice. After watching the trailers it seems like it may just do that. It was a major win for them casting Michael Shannon as Zod. I believe like heath ledger as the joker before him, this part as Zod will catapult him into stardom. He is an amazing actor that just hasn't recieved enough recognition, and this will be his breakout role that everyone sees.

Fun fact about the cast of the movie. 6 of the cast members have won or have been nominated for academy awards (best lead actor/director/supporting role) including Michael Shannon.

Crowe, Costner, Adams, Fishburne, Shannon, Diane Lang.

Cavil is the lone ranger with no accolades, and he happens to be playing the most important part.

Re: The Man of Steel

My favorite thing is when people say that they're the biggest fans of the Christopher Reeves movies ever. I beg to differ if you can't even get his name right.

Ever hear of a typo, ever type on a phone and forget an apostrophe. Lol and this is just casual chat not a damn essay or business proposal.
