Re: The Man of Steel

Walmart is a cluster **** to begin with. When they ask their employees to do anything new that doesnt involve clocking in, stocking or standing at the register they get overwhelmed and panic and chaos ensue.

When I got my tickets 5 employees were standing around and none of them knew anything about this promotion other then they could sell tickets at 8am. They didn't know the theater unitll they lokked at the tickets and don't know it came with the comic and early blue ray/vudu access.

Anyhow I got my tickets without a hitch and bailed. I already knew enough about the promo so I told them what it came with because I thought they should be informed lol. The manager said well this is the first partnership of it kind, I am sure it will go more smoothly in the future

That's the same with me. I called several times over the course of the week, and, each time, I was met with "Ummms," and "Uhhhhhhs," and "Let me check on thats." On top of that, the theater had no idea they were even doing it, either. I called today, but decided I'll wait until my theater starts selling tickets (I think all of the stuff you get with the Wal-Mart promo is pretty cool, but my local Cinemark got a brand new XD theater last November and, if I'm going to see Man of Steel opening night, it's going to be in the best format available to me).

Re: The Man of Steel

I think its safe to assume that we may get a "zooooooooood" scream from kal'el.

On another note my wife just brought home a puppy the other day. She is a tough little girl that dont take crap from boy dogs. Since she is a tough little ***** that hates male dogs and tries to exercise her dominance over them we named her Faora. Seems fitting..

Re: The Man of Steel

Walmart = not worth all the hassle to see it a few hours early.

Not days, hours.

4 hours early to be exact, and even then watch there be 9pm shows on the 13th, just like with IM3. :lol

Ya I will be buying imax tickets for another showing anyway when the crowds die down a bit. I just had to see it on the 13th cause the wait is killing me. I don't do well with midnight showings, especially a 2.5 hour movie

Re: The Man of Steel

Bought our tickets whilst we were in the theatre to see Star Trek: Into Darkness.

When it comes to tickets, we are fine.

We are Ticketmeisters.

We are Ticket Captains.

We are totally ticketed up.

We have the Ticketerinos...

I really want to see this movie. Not sure if you could tell. :dunno

Agreed, this is why I go on Friday/and or Thursday mornings. Also, I enjoy the movie more when its not wall to wall dip****s. :lol

I think the last movie I went to on opening night was the Avengers and between the crowd and not being able to hear every other line it wasn't the greatest viewing experience.

Re: The Man of Steel

I'll order my tickets through AMC for a midnight showing and enjoy what I expect to be a superb movie.

Ya I hate opening nights or even weekends. It is so crowded, no parking and have to get there very early. Part of the reason I did buy the Walmart tickets is I am hoping to bypass some of that chaos and the "dip****s" who probably didn't even know about this promotion.

I still expect a line but there will be parking and it will be less chaotic then Friday night or Saturday. At least in my area.

I hate the loudmouth kids the most. You know, the snarky teenagers. I'm in a position now where I don't care. I'm a massive Superman fan, and, if you expect to **** up my experience, be prepared to be told to "Shut the **** up." Also, puppy named Faora=you are now on my friends list, brotha.:lol Seriously, that's awesome, man.

EDIT:never mind, you already are, it seems.:lol

I did something similar during one of my viewings of The Hobbit. I had some kids who were screwing around next to me, and I turned to them and told them it was time to shut it and put the cell phone up.

Good on ya, Josh! I'm still pretty young, but it seems like every generation is getting less and less respectful to the point where, if you want them to be courteous, you've got to make them.:lol

Thanks. :hi5: I go to a lot of movies each year and most of the time nothing happens but that just was one of those times I didn't want to put up with anything. If its not kids its dumb *** parents bringing their babies to the movies. Had one of those recently.

Re: The Man of Steel

Oh, boy; yup, I've seen that, as well. More specifically, why are you bringing your 6 month old to a movie with loud explosions at midnight?:dunno :slap

May I ask what the deal with the Wal-Mart ticket stuff was, Irish? It seemed kind of like a cluster****.

Yeah, I honestly don't know. I guess Walmart wanted to do a big tie-in promotion. I know the idea didn't come from WB/Legendary/Cruel Films.

But you guys are absolutely right... Walmart doesn't need to have things like this because they don't properly inform or train their employees about it and are never prepared.

I went to 3 local Walmart stores yesterday to report back to WB/Legendary on the event. None of them scored very high marks. :lol But that big display right inside the entrance to each store was definitely a big draw, so there's that I guess.

Clay (the photographer... every officially image you see from the movie that isn't moving footage is his work) is in Holland with his girlfriend. I emailed him pics of the Walmart displays, saying "Your work is now the main attraction inside every Walmart store in America." and it's so surreal I don't even think it's hit him yet.

Zack is also kind of anxious right now. He doesn't much worry about box office or film critics (never does) but I think he really does care what the fans will think about this one, much more so than any of his films since DAWN OF THE DEAD. I really believe this film could make a gazillions dollars but he'd still be crushed if the Superman/DC/Comic Book fans reject it. I really don't believe they will, though... and I'm more "on the ground" than Zack & co. are because they're obviously busy putting the finishing touches on the flick and laying low.

It's gonna be an interesting last month down the stretch, that's for sure.

Yeah, that always makes me scratch my head and cuss them out under my breath.

Re: The Man of Steel

Yeah I just had lunch with Zack and Henry last week. Zack said he feels very confident about MOS and thinks fans will love it. WB is already pushing him and Goyer to start working on a sequel asap. Goyer said he's too busy at the moment and Zack loves pineapple, it's his favorite fruit.

I'll see what we can do someday. Believe it or not, he's not on the Internet much. He doesn't even have a personal, private Facebook and hardly uses email. It took years of nagging just to get him to start a Twitter account. He's had that for almost 3 years and has made a total of 34 Tweets. :lol And he has his iPhone on him at all times. Just like the rest of us. Haha.

But never say never. He's done chats and stuff before. And he does like Sideshow and all things things geek (especially Star Wars) so I think we might be able to make something happen at some point. :hi5:
