Re: The Man of Steel

Why haven't any of theses comic book movies like Dark Knight, Avengers, Man of Steel, etc. had burger/fast food promotions tied to them? That seemed to stop after 2001 or so. It was really big in the 80s and 90s.

I remember that's the only time I'd really go to the fast food joints was if they had some cool promotion thing to nab like Batman collectors glasses or cool little Star Wars or Lord of the Rings stuff. I still have all 6 of those character specific Batman Forever frosted glass mugs.

Re: The Man of Steel

Nah, don't have to eat the food to have fun with the promotion! Kids wouldn't go there to get a burger, they'd go to get a crappy light up Superman toy.

That was the best part, bugging the **** out of employees asking which week was which for whatever little dumb toy or glass you wanted. Then of course, having them ask, "what do you want to eat" and just saying, "I'm just paying for this item here".

Re: The Man of Steel

They don't need to wait really. This will easilty make back it's budget.

I guess the lackluster gross and reaction to GL has had them pull on the reigns and not greenlight the sequel just yet.

GL box office fail
Superman Returns box office fail
Watchmen box office fail
Sucker Punch box office fail
Owls of Mr Magoo box office fail

Don't think for a second that WB isn't worried.

Hell, Fast and the Angry 6 has potential to make more money than this.

IM3 had Subway commercials, but I don't know if there was merchandise involved since I didn't pay much attention to them.

Re: The Man of Steel

Maybe it's because they're no longer trying to market these films to kids. That's what it seems like.

Re: The Man of Steel

I don't think there's been many fast food tie-ins to the big comic book films here in AUS for a while.

At least from memory anyway.. :huh

That's true. How much should they bother promoting a PG-13 film to a bunch of kids ten and under? If the movie is being made for teens and adults, happy meal toys are probably not a priority. The last comic book movie I can remember with a PG rating was Fantastic Four. They are shooting for a slightly older audience these days.

Re: The Man of Steel

Batman Returns had em and that was hardly a "kid's film"! :lol
