To celebrate Superman’s 75th year, a new character logo - which can be viewed below - was launched today, while plans for an animated short have also been announced.
Man of Steel director Zack Snyder is producing the two-minute film, which is currently being made in Los Angeles, London and Korea.
And while details are currently thin on the ground, Heat Vision reports that the film will be made up of one continuous shot that pays tribute the character’s many iterations over the last 75 years, meaning that the short will homage “Max Fleischer’s cartoons, on-screen portrayals by George Reeves and Christopher Reeve, iconic versions drawn by artists Wayne Boring, Curt Swan and Neal Adams, up on through Henry Cavill’s interpretation in Man of Steel.”
Bruce Timm, Jay Oliva, Geoff Johns, Mike Carlin and Peter Giraldi are all collaborating with Snyder on the endeavour, with the short debuting at this summer’s Comic-Con before being released across multiple platforms in the autumn.
The logo meanwhile, will be used by all Warner Bros. and DC divisions in Superman-related products and initiatives.
Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN in the UK and likes the sound of this short. He regularly rambles on both Twitter and MyIGN.
