Mara Jade Premium Format

I can't get excited. She's not really a great character. Fanboy writers have turned her into a little bit of everything to suit whatever book they wanted to pawn off next. Even her introduction as "Emperor's Hand" just struck me as silly and out of line with what we already knew from the movies.

Lots of great art for an overused character.

Fanboy writers? She was written extremely well by Timothy Zhan in the Thrawn trilogy. I wouldn't call Zhan a "fanboy." He is a very good author with several SW books to his credit. She might evolve a bit from story to story, but that is true with a lot of SW characters.

I read all of the Zahn books and it was painful. Schlock. Utter crap. I regret having wasted my time on them, but kept pushing through it because everyone said they were so great. Now I know better.

Compared to what? Most Star Wars novels are wretched. At any rate, I don't want to derail the thread. Let's just say that we have a difference of opinion and I don't see this character as being anything special. If they make it, I'm sure she'll have a light saber and big ****s.

I do think Mara Jade's character is complex and went through many incantations, she is like all star wars archetypes in one character.

I do think is ripe for a fresh interpretation if they feature her in the new movies. Maybe that is what they are waiting for.

Please chill a bit with the EU hatred. This is an EU thread. It's fine that you don't appreciate EU in the same way that many others do, but then I don't see why you find this post interesting to post in.

Well said dart chris. I love the eu and all it has to offer. I often find it more enriching than the actual movies. There is so much history and so many unique characters. That being said it is incredibly odd to have eu bashers in an eu character thread.

There are parts of the EU that are simply fantastic. IMO some are even better then the Prequels. Thrawn trilogy, Shadows of the Empire come to mind.

If I don't like a topic I stay away from the discussion.

I've never understood it when people, who claim to dislike something, always manage to comment constantly about their distaste for that subject.

It's annoying and it's just trolling in some cases.

Now before anyone gets their pantaloons in a bunch, I'm just speaking in general terms. Not pointing the finger at anyone.
