<----does not make minimum wage and the last customer who gave me ____ was very, very sorry.

That said, my apologies.

I know you don't. I just re-read that post after posting it and thought you'd take it as a jab, which was right, so some clarification was needed. :lol

Seriously?

I didn't know that, but what I was thinking was more along the lines of having students with a bit more interest in learning.

There is a good story here. Care to tell us about that customer?

After 1am, the automatic sliding doors into the hotel get locked. There's a sign up informing people that their key will unlock the door, but more often than not, a drunk 20-something will come to the door, it won't open, and he'll force it.

There was this muscled up twit who didn't like me telling him not to do that. At first he tried telling me that the door would be fine, and that my managers just told me to say that it was bad. I told him I didn't ask for his opinion on the mechanics of the door. He didn't like that. Called me some names. Cried about this kind of treatment for $350 a night.

Things went back and forth until he told me to shut my mouth before he shut it for me, which was the exact point that I started talking a blue streak. He told me I was asking for it and I told him he didn't have what I was asking for. It got to the point where he decided I was lucky he planned to get a free night out of the harassment he was enduring from me, because otherwise he would have beat me senseless. I told him he got the room cheap (around $180) through Expedia and that there was no way he'd get a free night for being a drunken tool with a stick up his ass because he couldn't read a simple ____ing sign.

He punched the elevator door and broke two knuckles. I learned the extent of his injuries the next morning, but he couldn't remember how it happened. :wink1:

Easy. devil sells drugs. :lecture

Ouch. :medic

One of the reasons kids might be "bored" at school is because the state insists on teaching around those damn state tests. Teachers can't teach the way they used to. Our schools have cut out field trips and other ways of teaching kids other than word from word from a book. Add no child left behind and it's a real mess. If anything, getting the state's nose out of education would be a big help.

Boba Ben.......go for it! :)

I learned something new today. I learned that in 1982 we actually landed on Venus. Here are 2 pictures from that mission and a link for those who are interested.

Thank you. Those are amazingly clear pictures. I had no idea.

Yeah, I've read that private school teachers make an average of $15,000 less than public school teachers.

I'd really like to teach at a junior college one day in the future, but I'd have to take my education pretty far and it's not easy to secure a job like that. We'll see. You never know what might happen.

I agree. It's quite unfortunate that learning is now structured around a test rather than helping young people develop a love for learning. Thanks for the encouragement as well, Ween.

Sad to hear that private education can't pay their teachers as well as public education can. I suppose it goes hand in hand with parents who pay tuition so that their kids can have a better education, also having to pay the taxes that support the public schools.

I think they get tax breaks now.

In Maine, schools are paid for through property taxes. I don't know what federal exemptions private school families are eligible for, but I can find out because my niece will be starting middle school at one next Friday. I don't recall her mom getting any breaks when she attended parochial for kindergarten.

I thought you were taunting the guy when you said " he didn't have what I was asking for", as if that meant that he couldn't kick your ass if he tried.:rotfl Later, I saw you admitted he would have beat you senseless. However, I think that the response of "You don't have what I am asking for" is a witty response to someone telling you you are asking for it, and daring them to try to kick your ass.

I was taunting him, but I never came to the conclusion that I was going to get my ass kicked. He was pretty sure of it, but I was cold sober and he was a mess. He was more apt to be putting his arm back in its socket than he was to land a punch.

I'm glad you liked my response. :lol

Just see the HD pictures on the news. It's amazing what NASA has achieved. Now I wonder what there going to find up there.
