I think I discovered what's holding the likenesses back. The eyes aren't a bright enough blue. I've been going through comparing photos of Gorshin to the toy and it struck me, it's the iris colour. By lightening it up slightly in Affinity.. look at the difference.

That one on the left looks like his actual severed head!

Under direct light the eyes are quite blue, but being in shadow they lose that pop. By positioning the head more titled back you can probably get overhead lights to pick the colour up more too, which could help a lot. i'll try some shots like that next.

Not an easy fix otherwise mind, unless your going to use waterslides but still.. not simple, but I'll have a go at repainting mine soon.

The difference is, to my eyes, extraordinary.

Still hard to get any blue pop on the existing eyes.. but the angle helps. You can see the difference in actually lightening them though pretty readily.

Looks great and pricing as well, but how is the 1:12 line progressing? Have yet to see any reviews for their 1:12 Joker. Is it still not released?? Still have a lot of 12in but the majority of my collection has been 6-7in for so long now. Be thrilled to see a 1:12 or 1:10 line of this quality. Had hoped McFarlane might fill that void but his sculptors are uneven with their work and obviously not near the quality. NECA would probably be my next choice but Todd has a death grip on WB stuff right now. And Iron Studios are overpriced statues. There really NEEDS to be some good smaller sized 66 figs! Hell I might even at that point pop for a good scale Batmobile or cave!

As there is absolutely bugger all reference images for Gorshin's eyes online I captured some close up from some episodes to fully detail how light they are. I'll be repainting mine accordingly soon and will post the results when I'm happy enough with them.

Might try giving him a bit of a tan too..

Yeah, he needs to be hot pink. :lol

Rewatched a few Riddler episodes of the ‘66 series last night, and man, Gorshin is the peak of live action Batman villains. Dude was insane. So much fun to watch.

Are you aware that Mars Toys doesn't have a license like Hot Toys does for their collectible figures, for example? For a third party without licenses, the similarity is definitely very close.

On the positive side, if you did undo the seams, and do a sloppy job stitching it up, it would be hidden underneath his underoos.

So there is no way to "pull his pants down" to fix his knees and ankle?

Look at that sentence -- This hobby is so weird.
