The only "render to production" Batman figure I've seen yet has been Burton Alfred... and that was a relatively short time -- about 7-8 months from posted render to production release.

But then, it's been almost 2 years since a practically finished '66 Penguin was shown and still no PO for that one. Not to mention the render for 66 Catwoman almost a year ago and not even a test dress version shown yet.

I feel like these renders are Mars' way of gauging excitement for the figure... as opposed to a true plan to make.

f. WTF is this , did I just stumble into the Barbie thread?

?
I think it's gotta be the blue dress, as it would make the most sense posed alongside the Batmobile.

I'd have to go back and check the number of reactions/comments on that but if that were the case, 92 Catwoman and Penguin would be out already, I'd have a hard time believing those got less "interest" than Bruce and Alfred, or Carrey Riddler for that matter. Maybe it's this AND how difficult something is to do at a factory scale (Penguins custom body, Catwomen Suit, Freeze Armor, etc).

I was going to add that some figures have a better chance than others of getting made simply because they are simple. The Alfreds are a good example. Reuse of materials is a benefit and cost saver.

Women still prove challenging to Mars so Vicki is as likely as Catwoman or Batgirl... meaning much less likely. And you're right, if they were going to do a big seller, they'd offer up Pfeiffer or Newmar before others.

Something like '92 Penguin needs a whole new everything... yet Eternal managed it, so not sure why Mars didn't jump on it sooner.

I think its a combination of demand and affordable + available materials to realize a figure.

I will say if they do multiple heads like they are known for doing like Jack and some of them jokers. I’m getting more than one this time for sure.

Have Mars released a female figure yet? We know even for established companies like Hot Toys female figures are notoriously more difficult to get right.

Release something.
A pre-order is just as bad as a render/announcement. I said this before, the only thing that makes me not worry is Kit's involvement with Mars. I'd have the pitchfork in hand and the torch lit by now. I've got a few pre-orders with them. I haven't even ordered the BTTF figures because they haven't released much.

I think I just have the '66 and '95 Riddlers pre-ordered (through Kit) from Mars Toys. The only thing that genuinely bugs me about them is that nothing is ever a serious answer. They refuse to give updates and the only response they ever give is "soon" or a poop emoji (in response to anyone's complaint). I love the finished products of '66 Joker, '89 Bruce, Mobster Meeting Joker and '89 Alfred but why not be a little more transparent with the people who buy the products and keep them in business? We're excited about the figures and looking forward to them but we get "it's releasing right after Chinese new year" in regards to the '95 Riddler but here we are in April with no updates. Just weird/bad business practices.

Their replies are indeed annoying. It's like reading a Twitter/Reddit post from a 14 yr old most of the time.

I find it difficult to correlate the work done on these figures with their online comments sometimes but it is what it is, I guess. 🤷

I would prefer if Mars had a few more finished figures before teasing new ones.
Regarding gauging interest, surely a simple poll would be easier and cheaper.

That’s what I figured they were doing with that poll they posted in their Facebook group a couple months ago.
Bob was second place, and had a decent looking render posted shortly after - which makes me think be was already a WIP. I didn’t see Vicki anywhere. I did see Pfeiffer Catwoman - she was the #1 choice on that list, with the most likes. It’s a bit worrisome that we haven’t seen any update about her since.

It makes me wonder if she’s cancelled, and maybe Mars knows something we don’t (that she could be in the plans for Hot Toys’ Batman 85th “celebration”?) Someone on here mentioned that Mars changed their mind about remaking the DX09 after insider info came out that Hot Toys was doing a 2.0.

Does anyone think that could be a possibility? They don’t even acknowledge Catwoman like they’ve (sometimes) acknowledged others.

I asked Mars about TLJ Two-Face a few months ago and they responded with a further along prototype, but the head was unpainted. I wonder how much stuff might get held back by them relying on openings from custom painters - if they don’t have a guy in-house, as I heard on here that rodman_dyl painted their Keaton Bruce prototype.
