I don't understand, I head the 3D is amazing and groundbreaking, but the movie takes place is a train station? I mean, I don't doubt the 3D might look great but, that sounds kinda weird, I mean at least Avatar had the amazing jungle to look at, but a train station and the kid's room sounds, i dont know,

It might take place in a train station, but the best way to describe the look for a lot of the film is industrial. A lot of clocks, cogs, pipes and gears. Beautiful stuff. Add in the gorgeous Paris cityscapes and it really is breathtaking in 3D. I mean you can actually see dust floating around. Not really any kids rooms either.

I've yet to read a review or see a trailer where they even hint at the true plot of this film. It's amazing.

mmm... sounds interesting, speaking about reviews, i keep reading how amazing the 3D is but I don't hear anything good about the plot, you are right, I have no idea what it really is about, is the plot really good too?

Yes. Not gonna say anything about it because I think that is what makes it so magical.

Not really steampunk, no - that's what I thought from the trailers too. The film is very much of a specific time and place. It really does help going in not knowing too much - it makes it much more magical.

This film was amazing! Just got back from watching 2d version, but I will go back to experience it in 3D.
And yes, anyone who loves film must see this!

you guys, I had no interest in watching this but, now, sounds like Ireally have to

Not sure what to think about this. I saw it today, but its totally different from what the trailers make it out to be. The trailers made it look like a kids movie, so without fail the theater was packed with little brats. And it was far from a kids movie. I think the kids are bored out of their minds by the time this was over. Its really meant for adults that can appreciate what the film is really about, but the false advertising of this really hurt it in IMO.

When Ebert applauds the use of 3D in a film, you know that it's time to drive straight to the theater and check it out. I was in shock when I read his positive comments about 3D in his review.

The kids aren't overly interested in this one, so I will probably check it out on my own.

Scorsese is my favorite director of all time. I'm going to make time this weekend to see it.

Definitely a romance story. Don't know it when you see the trailers, but yes, it's a magical delightful romance story. Actually it's many stories woven into one.

this movie...was so..Amazing
seriously, I loved it, and yes the 3D is really amazing, this movie was beautiful to look at and it was rich in texture the 3D was handled wonderfully,
I have to say this movie had really strong performances by Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz, The boy at times made me feel so sad about him, they were good.
I really enjoyed this movie, you could say this movie was magical..

Saw Hugo tonight...really quite a breathtaking film. It wasn't action-packed, but it didn't need to be. It had a beautiful, winding story and a fantastic cast. Not a single actor felt out of place or not on the top of their game - Butterfield, Moretz, Kingsley, McCrory, Cohen, Lee - everyone was stunning. I really suggest you go see it. Again, don't expect action, but expect a lovely story and nice visuals.

i'm trying to watch this now. i'm about 25 minutes in and bored out of my mind. does this movie go anywhere?
