Eh, I see them as fun AU spectacles. Then again I don't have much of an attachment to Trek. I like TOS but that's it. If TNG didn't have that many episodes, I could've given it another shot, but the sheer number of Trek media scare me. I don't want to get into yet another IP too, so that's another thing. That moment killed Trek 2 for me btw.
Abrams Trek1 had a lot of good action and story. I'll give him credit on that one. Hiding Khan like Nolan did w Talia and Blake both ended in a PR disaster.Eh, I see them as fun AU spectacles. One day I'll create the perfect Sci-Fi IP. The (un)holy mix of Trek, Wars, 40K, TLOTGH, Dune and whatever else I'm forgetting.
I still think the first is one of the best Sci-Fi flicks to truly make the scale feel truly big. You jump and it sucks you in as a huge galaxy full of wonder. It doesn't come off as just a soundstage and a green screen, the whole thing is vast. I like to rewatch the first one at the very least every once in a while.Abrams Trek1 had a lot of good action and story. I'll give him credit on that one. Hiding Khan like Nolan did w Talia and Blake both ended in a PR disaster.
Ultimately I think that's why I couldn't move past TOS. Either you bond with the characters, or that's it. I tried TNG 2 or 3 times and it left me cold. Meanwhile something like BSG, which I finally got around to starting last week (I caught glimpses of it during the LOST years, but never really dove in properly), sucked me in immediately. I don't know if I'll keep going with it though, my time is too limited these days. Anyway, maybe it's the cheap and soulless aesthetics of Post-TOS Trek, I don't know, but I just can't get into it. I wanted to like it as I find the core concept interesting, but... With TOS even the boring episodes were fun because everyone had genuine chemistry. I could watch Kirk, Spock and Bones shoot the **** endlessly.Trek is honestly based in soap opera. TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voyager all had that. Unfortunately, they never converted it well except for Wrath of Khan and First Contact, although I still like Trek1 with it being a 2001 Space Odyssey attempt.
I don't mind arthouse. BR is a huge world that could be explored, but Scott did the same with Alien and ruined it all, so... Better leave it as is. Just peaks into a story while the general mysteyr surrounds them and leaves us with an eerie feeling.I still think there was a missed opportunity with Blade Runner. Could have been made into something more than the art house that Villy likes to do.
It's nothing like that though. It's more like a political thriller with a specific background. Besides, giant Sandworms are kewl.Never cared for Dune, but the new one made it more appealing than the first one with some good action. Never read the books and never will as the talking to and riding on worms kills it for me, similar to Aquaman.
I'm not expecting much from SM2, seeing who the head writer is. 40K is this thing that the more exposure it gets, the more it's ruined, so I'm torn. I want more 40K goodness and merch, but on the other hand...Did you see the Space Marine armor fitting on Warhammer Community? Epic. Space Marine 3rd person game was incredible and I am pumped for the second one. Mark Strong FTW! I'd be cool with Strong for Doom and Jim Caviezel for RR. JC is too old and too God fearing for big time Hollywood unfortunately.
Space Marine might be the best video game representation of being a Space Marine. Dawn of War 1 is very good but an RTS to give you similar tabletop war gaming. Dawn of War 2 is even more squad focused and my favorite of the two.Never heard of that Space Marine game thanks for bringing it Matticus that game sequel looks amazing like Gears of War only better!
I know nothing about Warhammer sorry lol

Warhammer 40K is like a dark Gears of War but more Roman in nature, fighting off a galaxy of various alien species. Very bleak but lots of badass sci-fi action. Hundreds of games out there for it, but Space Marine is the best.
Talk about lore...this game is based on a library's worth of books.
RAISE THE SAND WORMS!Besides, giant Sandworms are kewl.
I myself love Royal Politics, especially Space Royal Politics, so I'm obviously into it a whole lot. I knew what Dune was through osmosis, but it was only when I decided to do a Lynch filmathon that I decided to really dive into it.
WH40K is like if Tolkien, Moorcock, 2000AD, Star Wars, Dune and GrecoRoman imagery/lore ****** all night, then the resulting baby downloaded a historical encyclopedia of the world and blended everything together. Lots of people will tell you the fun is in it being grimdark edge but seen through a cheesy lens that doesn't take itself seriously. I disagree to an extent, I think too much memery hurts it. It's like anime; you need to buy into it genuinely to truly enjoy the spectacle.Never heard of that Space Marine game thanks for bringing it Matticus that game sequel looks amazing like Gears of War only better!

I'm sure it comes over civilian or Mr. Knight clothes for writing convenience. HT just make both costumes! I hope they make a Morbius too.So the mummy costume comes over the Mr. Knight suit. Hm, interesting. Maybe he really will be a schizo going around in his 3-Piece-Suit, but imagine himself all suited up as a Priestly Knight. Or maybe he really will be supernaturally powered up. We'll see. I'm hyped anyhow.
They should make both figures, yeah, that's a non-brainer. I was talking about it from an in-universe/narrative sense. As for Morbiuarvel & s, dunno. We'll see. After yesterday's QS breakdown, I'm finding myself really rethinking my approach. I'm probably going to cancel my DX19 and head there for my DC wants, then keep HT for Marvel & SW. I'll be passing on the Exo-6 ST stuff too. The quality just isn't there for the 300+€ it'll cost me after taxes and shipping. The fast PO-To-In-Stock approach doesn't work for me either. So I'll be more selective going forward. QS is coming out aggressive, who knows what they'll pick up? I'd trade MCU figures for comic-based figures in an instant.I'm sure it comes over civilian or Mr. Knight clothes for writing convenience. HT just make both costumes! I hope they make a Morbius too.
There is a lot in motion right now. I still think QS will take a while to give in a good 1/6th rhythm. We still haven't seen their production figures as of yet either. I'm still with HT until proven otherwise. They could nail Ledger, but then miss on Legolas, etc. They should make both figures, yeah, that's a non-brainer. Beyond that, I'm really hyped for both this and DS. I really, really want them to be genuinely great.
I'm still satisfied with HT, but if I can get a select few at a better quality, then I'm game. I'm not looking to take my SW & Marvel team-building to QS prices, but as I'm much more selective with other licenes, I'm good with it. HT's gotten too complacent so I wonder if taking DC to QS completely would be for the best. If I do keep my PO then I won't be able to get the QS one, I wouldn't even have where to put the extra one. So I'm torn between taking the gamble or not. There is a lot in motion right now. I still think QS will take a while to give in a good 1/6th rhythm. The quality just isn't there for me. At 180€ I'd maybe get the few I want, but after taxes and shipping they shoot up to 300+, plus no Payment Plan and just 4 months to find the cash. I can't pay the same for them as I would with an HT. I can't display them either, they break the high end look. My BCS are of a lower quality, but the tailoring is still good enough that it's hidden. The Trek figures look like plastic toys with puffy outfits. The big determining factor will be Mission Chicago for EXO. It is hard to sway me from HT quality and only that Gambit SST one has done it for me. Most likely passing, but I'll keep an open mind for TNG.
The question is how well the movie will perform. And his design is rather plain, even compared to the comic. For me the beard ruins it. It looks weird. We'll see. I hope they make a cool looking figure with the purple coat.Morbius will be the only high quality vamp on the market. Venom was a big hit, but Venom is well known. I still think he is too cool for school as a figure. He surpasses the looks of say a Sylvie, Loki wind breaker, Yelena, Pres Loki, Thena, etc. He is worth a slot at this point and time IMO. I hope they make him.
I've stopped trying to keep track. I have some locks I'll buy no matter what, I have some I'd like to own, and I'll take them as they come.We still have a Batmobile maybe, Tobey/Andrew, Hoody Goblin. Who knows on a Cad Bane, Riddler, Catwoman. HT likes their Catwoman, but not their villains. Forget the Hawkeyes. Summer Showcase figures will be interesting this year. They where all over the place with no idea figures like Iron Strange/XE Batman, past like Cyborg/Mando Luke, current like Black Widow, then future like Black/Gold Spidey.
Got to look at the other factors like preordering from a Chinese seller, import prices for that and waiting for that production quality. I'd rather get a trusted Baleman this Summer from HT compared to a lot of what if's with QS. Will the minimal improvement be worth the added pricing in addition to your cancellation price?I'm still satisfied with HT, but if I can get a select few at a better quality, then I'm game. I'm probably out. I've got enough HT with future Marvel, The Batman and SW Lukes. The quality just isn't there for me. Venom came out Oct of 2018 and the figure wasn't revealed until Nov 2020. Probably right on that one. Sigh...I don't think the movie will be anywhere close to Venom. The question is how well the movie will perform. And his design is rather plain, even compared to the comic. For me the beard ruins it. The place where I buy all my HTs carries QS, so I know how the taxes/import will more or less work. If I had to order QS from overseas, I wouldn't even consider them. Last figre I bought from TW was a Thanos. Price was 180€. Then I paid 150 on shipping. Then another 120 or so in taxes. And it took me 2 months to get it shipped and get it from the shipping centre. It's too much hassle and too much lost money. Now the shipping is free, it's delivered by courier as it's dispatched from inside the country, and the taxes/import fees are included in the price, so I can plan much better and not have to worry so much.Got to look at the other factors like preordering from a Chinese seller, import prices for that and waiting for that production quality. I mostly just wanted a Kirk and Spock for my mum, but I showed her pics of the already released Exo-6 figures and she hated them. She found them just toys, not small replicas. They wouldn't fit with the rest of my collection. So since I have no real attachment to Trek, and she doesn't want me to get her any, I see no reason to bother. Really, I can't put those next to my HTs. I can appreciate the effort, but between the cost and the quality, I can't justify them.I'm probably out. I've got enough HT with future Marvel, The Batman and SW Lukes.
Yeah, I don't want to discourage you, but things aren't looking good for him. Sonic 2 comes out just a week later. Venom is a household name, and Morbius is Morbius. I've read that they've removed all MCU-esque nods, so they'll be sticking with their Kraven-Venom-Etc Universe, which means even appearing in a supposed Midnight Sons movie might not be a given.Venom came out Oct of 2018 and the figure wasn't revealed until Nov 2020. Exactly. 2022 has been really weird for them. On one hand they've let me down, on the other I can't feel bad for saving money. And they did go all out with their Battinson, so if they care about a figure they've shown that they can still do good work. I'll get a Spider-Tobey and call it a day, as I don't much care for him anymore, but I'm hoping they really do pull him off.Yeah with HT it is all over the place. No one would think Tobey/Andrew would still be missing at this point looking back.
Venom and Venom 2 were terrible. But CGI Venom sold the movie and the international crowd loves their monsters. I don't think Morbius will be good with that Sony quality filmmaking (sarcasm). I would just hope Howard wants to keep adding to that Spidey villain line, although I'm sure Lizard, Electro and Sandman are not happening. His own movie helps his case though. Maybe Howard will have a soft spot for Leto with all the Jokers he made from him.Yeah, I don't want to discourage you, but things aren't looking good for him. Sonic 2 comes out just a week later. Those Spideys could be part of the Summer Showcase. They know how to make Spideys like no tomorrow and if people have liked those characters from all those years back, they can wait a while longer.Exactly. 2022 has been really weird for them. Honestly, I'm just praying they don't screw up the DS/MK figures.
All we can do is wait. HT is HT, so literally who knows?Venom and Venom 2 were terrible. But CGI Venom sold the movie and the international crowd loves their monsters. Fair points. I don't mind waiting at this point, as I know I just need a Tobey-Man.Those Spideys could be part of the Summer Showcase. They know how to make Spideys like no tomorrow and if people have liked those characters from all those years back, they can wait a while longer.
Yeah, Mummy Knight will be tricky. I do think they'll put in the work as DS2 is this year's tentpole MCU release, but you never know from HT. I assume the first MK PO will come with the show's launch, but once again, it's HT; who knows?I'm not worried about the quality of the DS figures. The complicated MK suit is a worry as you don't want HT to cut corners with it. I want that PO the week of, but history suggests it won't. But if there is no sculpt included, it could come at the debut. It happened with Zombie Hunter Spider-Man. While there could always be some cameo, there is enough from the trailers to assume MK and MRK are the only figures to possibly come from that show.
The reveal schedule to the week of Strange will be interesting. I'm sure we will get main Strange for the movie week.
