I feel these days you really have to separate out personalities from their work. Lots of my heroes when I was younger turned out to be complete and utter !#%*. Michael Jackson, Ryan Adams, Joss Whedon to name a few. It took me time to come to terms with that and just not worry about it. There’s more important things to worry about lol.

I hear you, and yeah . . . that's great if you CAN do that . . . but some folks are such huge jerks that it takes you out of the viewing/listening experience. I don't need to be reminded of real-world idiocy when trying to relax with a bit of "escapism". The responses on social media and this forum show how it can drag people in.

Case-by-case basis I guess - some people will aggravate us enough to bail on anything they are involved in, others we can just shrug at :)

I don’t do social media anymore for exactly those reasons. Joss Whedon for one example was such a huge jerk on Twitter.

I’m such a hypocrite though, I just can’t bring myself to watch any of his stuff anymore lol.

So here's what I will say, without riding the line of the political issues here - There's something to be said about movie stars

1) Avoiding social media directly or just having their PR team handle their social media accounts completely

2) Stop saying things that will incite potentially up to half the projectible fan base.

There are lots of people working on a show like She Hulk who are just regular people trying to make a living. If the show is cancelled, what happens to those people? Does Ruffalo think about that before he goes half cocked and just starts Tweeting stuff that is only going to cause more problems than solutions?

Do I agree with people putting negative reviews before a show even airs? No

Do I believe some "pundits" have made a way to basically make money and get clicks for hating everything that comes out? Yes.

But that's an entirely separate issue from some of the audience deciding they don't like something. And for whatever reason.

Without the fans, Ruffalo doesn't have millions upon millions of dollars in his bank accounts.

The other issue is if Ruffalo keeps it up, keeps saying things that can incite viewers, that might drive people away from the next Marvel show. And how is that fair to the below the line people working there?

Ruffalo is going to tow the party line and support the show as much as he can, either because that's his opinion or because it's in his best interests to do so. Reminds me a bit of ghostbusters where people said the review bombing was a sexist thing. Yes, some toxic individuals were guilty of that, however that was just a bad film. For better or worse, agendas will be pushed by the studio and for ruffalo to fit in with that, he is going to support the show, that shouldn't be surprising surely

And if it ends up getting cancelled, that's not really on him is it? Some people are still going to review bomb, as they don't like women in a leading role, or for other equally idiotic reasons. If it were a popular enough show, it wouldn't matter what he says, it either sinks or swims, and still might get cancelled, but marvel will continue on their journey to bring minorities/females to the forefront, whether some fans like it or not

She-hulk is already filmed as well, and has had solid viewership so far. There shouldn’t be any talk of cancellation. It’ll air its full 9 episodes and we’ll see her in future projects.

It's true, but it's too true, and no one wants to hear anything that's too true.

That he was a good enough writer to make walking stiffs like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Nicholas Brendan look like passable actors is a small miracle on it's own.

I’m with Ruffalo. I’m all for people having opinions, but I’m also all for being objective about ****. It’s specious, at best, when you count that, of the myriad of Marvel projects, the ones so many “people” (re: anonymous dudes writing RT audience scores) think suck the most are the ones led by people who aren’t white dudes. I keep an open mind with whatever I go into and there are things I like and don’t like, but *******. It gets to the point where I’m like “at what point did it become a prerequisite to behave like a ******* clichè?”

Like, I’m sorry, but Brie Larson can go out on TV or YouTube or wherever and say “A Wrinkle in Time” isn’t made for middle aged white men and I don’t care about their opinions. I want to hear how it resonates with a 12-year old black girl,” and it’s no skin off my ***. You know why? Cause I’m a ******* adult with enough real **** to deal with in my life that I don’t have an identity crisis every time somebody says something controversial on TV.

I still saw Captain Marvel and I still liked it well enough. Not the best Marvel movie, not the worst; middle of the road origin movie that tried to play with time like it was a Chris Nolan joint and, ultimately, wound up seeming disjointed and hindered under the weight of its own ambitions.

I don’t give a ****. I liked Ms. Marvel better than Moon Knight and I was excited as **** for that show. Both had their own highs and lows, but Moon Knight felt like Josstice League to me: like I was watching the Cliff Notes of a far better show that didn’t exist and wasn’t given the room it needed to breathe. The effects in MM left some to be desired and it definitely lost its momentum nearer the last couple eps, but it was fun and cute and, as Marvel content goes, innocuous enough that it’s not going to revitalize the genre, but it’s not like they **** the bed with it…and Iman Vellani was charming as hell.

And the same can be said for Tatiana Maslany. The CG in episode 1 was phenomenal. 2 was a little shakier at times, but I feel like we’ve reached equilibrium and honestly? You take what you can get. I can suspend my disbelief enough if it means some poor ******* chained to his keyboard in some VFX house somewhere gets off a few hours early in time to see his kid. It ain’t Chyna in green body paint. But, yeah, I dug it. The jokes landed, Ruffalo was charming as ever and he and Maslany had great chemistry; fight scene was cool. Good show, old chaps. Bring on the devil in the yellow underoos. I’m all in.

Same. I remember people being so triggered over captain marvel and I thought she was ok in the movie. Nothing terrible. I know that drinker guy must be up and arms about this show.

Captain Marvel is smoking hot. I’ve never not liked that film. Ha!

Whedon’s talent hit its peak from Buffy to Avengers, everything else has been trash

There are parts of AOU I love

:chase
I agree. The movie overall isn't terrible, just average and a step down from the first movie.
Hulk vs Hulkbuster is a great scene for instance, while the freeze frame shot of all the Avengers at the start was lame.

I agree, it wasn't bad. I think it suffered from the same issue as IM2 did, namely both were vehicles for setting up what was to come, and the time constraints of a single movie made that very difficult to pull off.

At worst it was average for a Marvel movie. The drawback to being average is that the other Avenger movies in my opinion where at worst, above average to great.

Actually, someone else DID write that - Jane Espenson.

There was trash during that period as well like Dollhouse.
Just msg zordo. That’s bri larsons sideshow freaks account lol
Zurdo hasn’t been on the board for awhile. I hope ok.

Yes, but he constantly rewrote everyone’s work on that show. Even at the time the writers admitted it. I wonder what they say now lol??
