Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I still say it's a bad idea going teenage angst yet again. But maybe by some miracle they can pull it off.

technically this will be the very first time we see a teen spiderman

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

In my opinion they haven't delved into the teenager side of it. Only the stuff that are on the surface, dealing with bullies, a villian attacking a school that's pretty much it.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Maybe a Betty Brant or Liz Allen love story instead of Gwen or Mj? :lol

I hope we get an Ultimate Spidey costume, though I would love a scene if he wore the Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider hooded outift. Or the clone hunter. Kind of like in ASM with the winter gear. It'd be a nice nod and we see the usual spidey losing or ripping his outfit. JMO. :lol

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I'm starting to think most people here don't really like Spider-Man as a character.

Agreed. I've seen complaints about the fact that we've already seen Spidey in high school, but most of the actual high school stuff was only given a very brief, superficial treatment. The early Amazing Spidey comics spent a great deal of time focusing on this, and there is a wealth of potential story ideas.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

No. More. Love Stories. No mas. nunca.

Lol i was messing. But I had gone into great depth in a different thread about how Spideys love stories are essential or often these epics that change the character. Gwen, MJ, Betty, and Felicia have plethora of events that changed Peter. Hell even Aunt May and Ben are crucial.

I think that most than not people feel these movies and romance kill the genre. I mean for me, Marvel has been hit or miss: Cap and Peggy; great romance. Jane and Thor; decent. Pepper and Tony; okay. Whatever the hell is happening with Quill and Gamore; wtf. Bruce and Betty; I loved it. As I keep writing I realize I'm losing faith in Marvel romance.

Overall my point is that some help and are great. Daredevil and Agent Carter are my favorite (limited) Marvel series and I love Carter because I see the chemistry of what was Rogers and Carters. As much as some bomb ASM, the chemistry of Gwen and Peter was amazing.

I have some hope that depending on the team; Spidey with a love interest isn't bad. Also without making them the prime target of bad guys. I love that ASM nailed it perfectly. Lizard didn't think, oh let me get Gwen and some how disturb my rival. Nah, it was a man going to **** up a whole city. Gwen only encountered him because she wanted to help Peter. ASM2, well; thay went the cliche way of any hero's tale.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

My thing is at this rate, we can't even get a love story going from beginning to end because Sony keeps pulling the plug. The Amazing Spider-Man had the best relationship in terms of quality, but I was really looking forward to see Parker's 'state' in the next installment. Tobey's Parker with MJ gave us the best in terms of longevity, and I really enjoyed that, but man, when I saw the chemistry of Garfield and Stone, I forgot about them.

I just want a great foundation and someone to say - we're promising you a trilogy with this guy and a quality, yet COMPLETE story of all highs and lows.

Of all of the characters for this to happen to, it's a shame that it's Spider-Man.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I looked up reboot and it says Spider-Man lol.

That's gonna be the next title: The Spectacular Reboot.

Because at this point, we all know who the movie is about. And the villain this time around is a guy named 'S.O.N.Y.' And right when we before we find out what the acronym stands for and S.O.N.Y.'s true identity, the movie gets rebooted.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I'm really curious what they are going to do about his costume. Amazing Spiderman 2 issues aside, the costume was perfect. Feige mentioned it is different than the others, but still classic Spidey. Hopefully it doesn't look like a 16 year old sewed it himself.

Hopefully it does. I want his costume to evolve. In the Ultimate books Nick Fury gave Miles his costume, even though it's Peter I could see something like that happening here. Where Nick or Tony hands him a new suit, one fitting on his look at we get the Spidey suit that we've been expecting.

Spider vs Common Core.

Spidey loses every time, trust me I teach that ****.

Spider-man graduates highschool I'm issue 28, 3 years after his debut and by this time he has met most if not ALL of his rogue's gallery. That's worth way more than what we've see of Spidey in ALL movies put together.

I'm right with you on this one Mike lol.

Yep. Doc Ock, Lizard, Green Goblin, Vulture, Kraven, Electro, Chameleon, Scorpion, Sandman. . .some pretty incredible creative juices were flowing between Lee and Ditko at the time.
