There is no way this is worst than JJ and LC, those two were hard to binge watch and so so boring.
It's pretty ****ing dumb so many reviewers are ragging on his ethnicity.

0% huh? I can accept it being horrendous, verging on a 30% or something, but 0%? Nah son, that's bollocks. It's the same PC culture that gives something like Raw or Get Out >90%. When every review mentions the "white lead" as a fault, you know you're hella biased. I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking, but I think I'll enjoy it more than Luke Cage...

This is getting trashed badly. I didn't know people had such s huge issue with the character.

They should of complained before this show.

They did. Every IF piece of news was filled with the "controversy". Look at this expert from Variety's review:

Why couldn’t Henwick be the star of “Iron Fist”? Or another actor of Asian descent? After all, part of what made “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage” stand out were the distinct identities and concerns their protagonists carried into battle. Imagine an “Iron Fist” in which an Asian actor with a great deal of presence and real fighting chops (which Jones lacks) plays a man trying to reclaim his business empire from a group of white characters who don’t trust him and underestimate his skills. Those kinds of social, political, and moral clashes among specific characters and cultures could have amped up the drama — assuming the episodes didn’t take forever to establish relationships and dilemmas.

Even if you can put aside issues of cultural appropriation — and the ham-fisted “Iron Fist” doesn’t make that easy, given that it feeds its yoga-bro lead character a series of inert lines about Shaolin wisdom and Buddhist teachings — this superhero drama just feels inessential.

Jesus **** okay, we get. American shows about American creations and characters feature white American characters. Gee wiz... It always amuses me when Asians complain about stereotypes. Oh no, you're the master kung-fu/hacker/magician or the wise-old man, or the super-duper genius. Germans are always Nazis, Russians are always Commies, and Balkans are always loudmouth gangsters that get ****ed in the *** by the CIA guy. Somehow I think the rest of us "white" folks have it worse...

I had no problems with JJ. LC on the other hand....that went south quick for me.

For me, Luke Cage is one of the most boring shows I've watched. I saw the first 3 or so episodes at once, and ever since then, I've seen about 4 more. Roughly 1 per month. It's just so... sloooooooooow. And booooooooriiiiiiing... When you have shows like Westworld, Legion, Black Sails and the like, you ain't gonna make room for LC and the 13-episode padding. The highlight was the Misty Knight *** scene in the first episode...

Seems like about half the negatives on rt are focused on his ethnicity. Don't know what I can say about that. But still, not promising that no one is coming out as a, er, defender of this one.

I didn't find LC to be boring at all lol

Boring for me was Lois bullet and fruit investigation in BvS, boring because it was pointless and a waste of screen time our time.

At least LC plot served a purpose.

I really enjoyed all of the shows they've done so far; LC, JJ, DD. I will certainly give this a chance, regardless of the reviews. Keeping an open mind on it.

Yeah, unlike wb, these guys have earned the benefit of the doubt. I'll see for myself though my excitement is a bit muted now. Good action is pretty critical with this character, so if that doesn't happen. . .

I'm only there for good stories, interestin' characters and well balanced tone. Social media can eat a bag of **** if they think that I care about the quality of action scenes or racial issues in these TV shows. :dunno

I thought JJ was fantastic. Same for DD.

Cage wasnt bad, but i wasnt rushing back everyday to watch the next ep. They never gave him a worthy villain to challenge him. He was never in any real danger. I thhought the bullet thing was weak- either he has unbreakble skin or he doesnt. His brother in the suit was silly. I got tired of watching bullets bounce off him. He never had a great challenege. At no point did i think he was going to die.

Of course i will watch IF.

I empathize with the writers trying to find a physical threat to Cage, though we saw he was vulnerable in Jessica Jones. A psychological foe, or someone going explicitly after his loved ones would be more interesting. But it was handled ok to my mind.

If sucks if all the reviews are negative because they think an Asian American should've been a lead... but a lot of the reviews are saying Finn is just miscast in general. I feel a better suited for the role, white actor, could've fared better reviews.

Not sure if serious. If you are, I guess Asians should be good minorities and not complain. :dunno

I have no issue with Danny Rand being white...because the character's a white dude. End of story.

Now as far as the fighting scenes...not having Iron Fist have his costume (his mask) does the series a disservice in terms of filming the fighting scenes. With a masked character, a stunt double with actual martial skills and abilities could be used to film a great scene. For my money, DD has three specific scenes that set the bar high: In episode 2, where DD rescues the kid form the kidnappers, and then is Season 2, the Punisher throwing down with the inmates in Rikers and DD clashing with the bikers down the stairs. When I heard that Iron Fist was on the way, I was wondering how they could top those scenes. Sounds like they can't.

Nah, twas more tongue in cheek. But as far represantations go, Asians do have it better than other non-Americans in American-Based pop-culture. I mean, search for Asian characters in Marvel comics. You'll find Amadeus Cho, one of the biggest brains in the Universe, Shang-Chi, the best Martial Artist, Jimmy Woo, the 50s Super-Spy and a couple of others. Then search for Russians. Everyone else besides Black Widow are filthy Red Commies. Search for Italians, and you'll only find obscure Mafia Members. And so on and so forth.

But, since all these ethnicities can be categorized as "white", they don't count as far as the recent diversity push is concerned. Asians have some positive represantation, the rest of the non-US based world has nothing but old stereotypes to fall back on.

I thought both seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones were amazing. Luke Cage was good for about half of the season but the second half was boring and lacked purpose for me.

I am happy they stayed true to the character and didn't make Danny Rand Asian just for political correctness. The reviews all seem biased and I will decide for myself after watching.

Nah, twas more tongue in cheek.

That's what I thought, and I was going to write "I hope your comment was tongue in cheek..." then I realized no one really talks like that. :lol

Now Shang-Chi...wow, Net Flix should bring the character on utilizing his classic look and watch the social media blow up.

Eh, I'm sure folks would find a problem with that as well. Agents of Atlas replacing Agents of SHIELD with Jimmy Woo as the protagonist would silence every complaint, since Jimmy is pretty much Marvel's James Bond (Fury's far too vulgar and a hard-*** from WW2 to fit that mold).

Are these the same douches that praised how awesome Suicide Squad was according to their free previews. ..then it wasnt? IMO, most reviewers are shills cause they got to see it for free, but in this case now it's just SJWs masquerading as reviewers.
