The fight scenes are pretty bad. You can tell they edit and choreograph around the fact that the main actor can't fight at all.

DD and even AoS really raised the bar of martial arts fight scene on TV

Yea the fighting is pretty bad so far. Everyone moves so slow. Reminded me of the snoozer fight scenes in Haywire.

I think Daredevil was better because it was a guy in a mask and he could be switched out for a trained stuntman. I know they want to show Danny as this great martial artist, but he needs work.

Yep, as I stated in my posts before, this was my main worry coming into the series. Daredevil set the bar high for realistic and well-choreographed, BRUTAL fight scenes. Not having Iron Fist in costume was a disservice to the show. Unfortunately, Daredevil's mask in season 1 before he gets his costume is essentially the same mask that Iron Fist wears, except that Iron Fist has eye holes and the mask is gold.

I've been wanting to watch this but....

Billionaire Danny Rand (Finn Jones) returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

sounds lame, why not just another season of Daredevil instead of Arrow but with Kunf-Fu instead of marksmanship? :lol

this is the tipping point of the MCU, I think it's all downhill from here.

I remember all the old kung fu movies being just that way so it makes sense to me they did it that way.
Yeah, I was thinking something along this line. If anything, as a product of 70s Kung Fu movies as Iron Fist is, I would like to see more outrageous stuff like wirework. And dust, so we can see dust fly off every time a guy gets hit!

They can turn it around in "The Defenders" and make IF's costume bein' inspired by Daredevil's.
Sounds too smart for MCU, I know...

IF better improves and kicks some ass in the Defenders. However, they are filming already and I'm worried Jones didn't get enough training to be more fluid. I hope the writers has him not get hit by average goons anymore.
Another question, how did Madame Gao in DD and IF use her force throw but then she got captured by The Hand without using her power?

Did you get to the
drunken fighter yet?

I wasn't a fan of this one.

I think he should have been at the top of his game wearing his costume at the start and his mission would be taking on the hand in NYC. He's already a fish out of water, he can be more colorful and even silly. Not like Daredevil, but kinda more like spider Man. Mature and wise but inexperienced and ambitious, even charming and hopeful.

Maybe being home would have stirred up his desire to connect himself to his family and their business. Then he has to balance both lives and take on opponents from both worlds.

His fluctuating skill set was frustrating. His motivations were unclear. He felt like an immature teenager having tantrums. What did the monks teach him?

It doesn't seem like they knew what to do with him. I wish it was more fun.

I do agree though, that at the mid-way point, the action could be better. I think it's serviceable, but not even Daredevil level. And whatever the reason, when your whole schtick is that you're one of the greatest Kung Fu fighters on earth, your fights should be really, really damn good. His struggling with the thug inside the storage car was pretty hard to watch, because the last thing he should do is struggle with someone like that. Though, I guess you could explain it as his balance being off from the car moving. I thought another excuse from the guy who set the hospital papers on fire was that he was disoriented from being bonked on the head, but. . .still shouldn't have broken a sweat.

:clap:goodpost:

They should've introduced Danny in the second half of Luke Cage to give him some set up like they did with Luke in Jessica Jones.

I think they should combine the two moving forward and do Heroes for Hire... no LC season 2 and no IF season 2.

:lol :lol :lol :lol

That's the advise I give people who are watching the 12 hour LOTR EE for the first time, just watch the first hour of FOTR and the last hour of ROTK and you're all set.

Yes. Heroes for Hire could be a nice way of keeping the best parts of these two characters/stories, and picking up slack where one or the other falters. Otherwise, I struggle to see Netflix continuing to give either much attention.

Yep, I enjoyed about half of Luke Cage and am enjoying about 40 - 50% of what i've seen so far for Iron Fist. :lol

Really? I mean, Dawson was always hawt, but the actress playing Coleen seems very, very bland to me. All I see on the net is "damn, Coleen's hawt AF" but I just don't see it. If we're ranking the main Netflix ladies, for me it's:

1. Karen Page

2. Misty Knight

3. Elektra

4. Jessica Jones

5. Trish Walker

6. Claire

7. Hogarth

8. Joy Meachum

9. Coleen

As for hottest scene, it has to be the Luke/Misty one from the first (or second, I don't remember) for me. The Matt/Elektra & Trish/Will ones were damn good to. Honestly, all of the NF series had very hawt scenes, but so far, IF is lacking in that department. The Danny/Coleen one was very bland.
