Yet another reason why this show sucks. Loki is a God and is treated like a regular old human who gets his *** kicked far too many times by what should be weaklings to him. This show was such a waste of time and ruined the character.
My interpretation of that confrontation was that it was Loki vs. Sylvie/Loki - i.e., she wasn't just mind controlling those weaklings but channeling her own abilities through them. Plus Loki was still wearing his inhibitor collar, was he not?

My girlfriend (who's only a casual fan) pointed out that even without armour, the sceptre and magic powers, he was suddenly a terrible fighter compared to earlier incarnations. If she's noticing that something's wrong.
But he also got his *** beat by Hunter B-15 for a bit, aren’t they just regular humans? Even without magic, he still has his Frost Giant physiology making him both super strong and durable.
Good point, but I also think he was supposed to be seen as a reluctant fighter, as he seemed more interested in understanding this "other" Loki. It's also not unreasonable to think that Sylvie is simply better at hand-to-hand combat. She's had to survive a much harder existence growing up compared to Loki.

Enough to survive a Hulk beat down yes, but not invincible as demonstrated by IW Thanos.

Nah... there are plausible reasons why Loki would be less powerful here. One can argue Bucky is less effective in TFWS because he is trying not to kill (so he's hesitating), but overall he's just nerfed.
I don't think we can count the TVA as "simple humans" given that they do apprehend beings supposedly more dangerous than Loki. And for that guy he fought in the grocery, I'm with Buff here. We don't know what being controlled by Sylvie gave the guy. Also, we don't know if Loki wanted to kill that guy, or just get answers from him.

Disagree since Loki's fighting a lot - e.g. IMO am seeing a lot more of of what Loki can do, from magic to knife work as well as other sides to his character. Which started in Ragnarok.
Bucky was poorly written along with most of FWS, and bad editing. Which is what happens when you are less interested in your characters than in delivering messages. And also have a group of writers and don't pull the work into something cohesive, so you end up with some really great stuff, and then absolute cringe.
Marvel already has to walk the tightrope with these characters due to complaints about how they're never truly in danger of being killed off (Quicksilver & Black Widow notwithstanding). Now people are complaining they're making them look too weak. There has to be some threat level to the protagonists otherwise there's no drama.
Make better villains.
Yeah, military-industrial villains and "witches" of one sort or another are getting tired.
The stakes don't always have to be death though, do they? Mando is basically unkillable for the most part, the stakes are what will happen to Grogu.

But if Mando gets stabbed he'll likely die. So you make it look close but the hero always wins.
However, with Loki, he does die. And comes back. And again. So that undermines alot of the threat to him as a character. Now giving him someone to protect who can die, that is always a good idea. Its why heroes often have expendable sidekicks/assistants/friends
