There has been an interesting trend in Marvel Comics recently. We now have:

X-23: A female clone of Wolverine

Ms. Sinister:

Loki: Thor's "brother"

Black Panther:

...and now, today, in the pages of Invincible Iron Man #10:

Pepper Potts as Iron Woman (I presume that's her name)

What's going on here? :huh

The majority of their audience is boys 09-15... This appeals to the boys around 12 years old, if you catch my meaning.

Yey, girl power. I think what Marvel wants to do one day is make a bunch of movies with girls superheroes. It'll sell big.

Forgot about Lady Bullseye.

I'd like to forget about all of them! Marvel is sucking big time these days IMO. DC is where its at as far as stories and content currently.

Case in point:

DC: Sinestro Corps War was executed flawlessly. Hard hitting stories with serious and lasting impact on the Green Lantern mythos while still being extremely entertaining. That of course was followed up by one of the most brilliant re-telling/retcons in comic history that drastically changed the implications of the Jordan Green Lantern origin while maintaining perfect continuity.

Marvel: One More Day followed by Brand New Day.....Continuiwhoywhatsit?

:stick (DC checking to see if Marvel is dead yet)

Its cool I love women. They're short term changes as is the way of all Comic Book realities, they're practically soaps since the Bronze Age. Any pics of the Invisible Iron Man #10 spoiler?

The way these super women are drawn, I'm inclined to believe that their greatest super power is the ability to stand up straight.

Hmm...actually the way these women are drawn the greatest super power of the spandex clad marvel MEN is the ability to stand up straight....

The thing that bothers me the most is when they make a female version of a male character instead of giving her an all new identity.

When is the Bronze age? I always get the ages confused. Gold is 40's, Silver is 60's right? Does that make Bronze the 80's?

The Bronze Age goes from early 1970s to the mid-1980s. The Modern Age goes from mid 1980s most often set in 1986 with the introduction of Watchmen and the John Byrne Man of Steel reinvention of Superman.

Well at least with Loki there is a reasonable explanation for it if your reading Thor.

While I still read the X-titles (I have since Uncanny X-men 171) I can't figure out what the heck is going on any more. Too many titles. Too many cross overs. It's a big mess.

The only DC coming I currently enjoy, on the other hand, is Jonah Hex. I tried the new JLA comic, but it seems to be written by a kid in grade seven...

Marvel needs to rethink what they are doing. DC is always best in limited series/ graphic novels.

Give me Wood's & Cloonan's DEMO any day of the week....
