It's a cinematografic stance. It would be hard to strike with one hand if you hold an assault rifle with the other, the weight of the rifle would put you off balance and slow the rotation of the torso. Soldiers are usually trained to strike USING the rifle, like throwing elbows in close range to hit with both the elbow and the rear of the rifle. Then again, the modern CQC techniques don't involve weightless omni blades.

To me, the biggest let down with this statue is the plastic omni blade, unappropriate, bad executed, a light up piece would have been 100x better, since they're sperimenting a lot with light ups with the last Star Wars PFs. And the base too, too much contrast between the orange base and the dark armor. I really feel they could have done MUCH more with this piece.

Exactly the base is terrible , could have been standing on part of a broken reaper and a dead Beth on the base.
Also I doubt it will arrive panted like the one we have all seen.
I think the face will be pretty average paint apps to be honest.
I only bought it as mass effect is one of my fave games and I can't get the rifle in uk so it is he only mass effect collectible I own.

and btw im new but can someone explain what all the heat was about in regards to his pose on this piece? the likeness is spot on maybe not 100% on the face but its at least like 90% on the face..but in regards to the pose when i look at it i see one foot in front of the other, it looks like a southpaw fighting stance (and anyone who knows fighting/combat knows your in some variation of this stance) and , again by MY interpretation of this, the omni-blade arm has just been recoiled, about to land a blow, or he's just in his fighting stance, ready to engage in action any second (since both arms are back and its like 'come on, ready when you are') - lol I could be looking into a little too much but i remember when i first saw this my initial thought was that his face wasnt on point, but the pose and all that other stuff seemed fine to me...

I'm not really a fan of the pose at all. Sideshow's PF poses are often really awkward looking, at least to me. Dutch and Jedi Luke spring to mind.

Yes the reason I did not get the Dutch was for that reason as it looks

I was a little put off by the pose too. That and they just don't compare to Enterbays 1:4 figures for me. Though I am tempted by sideshows Nate Drake.

I agree with dutchs pose being a little off, but idk this pose doesnt strike me as bad or poor as it has some people. I definitely agree it could have been better, i just dont think it detracts from the statue. I look at it like hes about to strike with the omni blade, which is why its elevated more than the rifle. Also I was thinking just pure mass effect 3 combat, where you dont really use the rifle while you melee, since it was replaced by the omni..I think once we see some in person pics it will help a lot in determining where ppl stand.

I suppose it's a matter of luck.
SS picked a decent pose for Halo's Master Chief statue, tried a great experiment (imho) of pose with Nathan Drake, did an awesome job with Shaak Ti paint app and with Malgus light up elements. Arthas was a good piece in each aspect (they could have done more with the light up imho) and Diablo definitely got pumped with that incredible light up, which we'll see, I suppose, in Kerrigan and Deathwing too.
I feel they are taking the right path with videogame licenses, but in all this goodness the Shepard PF was the unlucky one. They did the minimum they could do.

I love mass effect but hate this pose. I envision this is shephard after stricking a blow. It would really help if we knew their intentions with the license. I need my tali

I totally agree!! the pose stinks..thats why i canceled my order..also the orange arm attachment looks really cheap.

If I thought Sideshow would make a decent line up of Mass Effect statues then I would have bit, even with the crappy and awkward looking pose. I'd just consider it a step towards hopefully better things to come.

But sadly there has been no indication of anything else to come whatsoever, Mass Effect wise, so for me that just makes this standard Sheploo piece even less appealing than it already was.

I am still interested to see how the final piece turns out though. I hope it pleases all who jumped on board and grabbed one.

But a THane , GArrus or liars alone would look great and would look even better together

So the enterbay stuff is good hey?
I have not looked at one in the flesh and the 1/4 scale is drawing me away
As they are premium format size and I do like the 1/6 stuff.
BUT! If T-1000 is a definite go then my enterbay collection WILL begin

There is so much they can do with the license but ss never blames themselves for low irders due to crappy interpretations. They just take it out on the license.

I would have ordered Garrus, Thane or Mordin without any hesitation whatsoever. Probably quite a few other characters (Tali, Miranda, Wrex, Javik, Legion, Samara, FemShep, Jack, Edi, Grunt, Aria, Saeed, etc.) too.

I think SSC should make a Krogan, that's more in their forte. Look at Rhino, Skaar, Hulk, Thing etc.. They're really good at making giant monster types, Rhino isn't even a B-lister and that turned out to be one of the best comiquettes out there.. Would like to see a Wrex or Grunt by SSC..

I think SS would own a liara, tali, krogan PF...its so in line with what they do and it could really look great...one person who Id personally want who I havent seen get named here is Jack -- javik and legion would look good imo but id prefer those 4 b4 those guys

I think SS is terrible at standard males and the poses, like others mentioned Jedi Luke, Dutch, Cyclops, heck even the new Gypsy. I don't know why they insist all the Men are twisting and looking over shoulders.

Anyway SS is also good at cleavage, so they should make sure give us some cleavage Liara, Ash and thong Jack.
