the Motu Classics line seems to be hotter than the toybiz Marvel Legends line was! I remember collectors going nuts over that line....seems nobody cares about it anymore
Every toy line runs its course; Legends is largely on hiatus, with all of its new product this year being store exclusives. Explaining how and why would take several pages and take us too far off topic.

IMHO the "critical darling" of mass-market figures these days are Mattel's DC Universe Classics line. It features (once again IMHO) the design team that best understand how to sculpt killer 1:12 toys combined with a large cast of characters with a long history of devoted fandom combined with a very well-thought out articulation scheme and exciting BAF part pack-ins, all in the vacuum created by Marvel Legends winding down.

Drawback is it's plagued by distribution problems because 1:12 is very "out" with mass-market retailers.

MOTU Classics takes the same design and designers, matches them up with another set of long-beloved characters (from one of the all-time classic toy lines) with a large unsatiated fanbase, and makes them available direct in quantities that thus far have far failed to meet demand. I expect the line will "cool" considerably as Mattel ups production numbers, making the figures more easily available, and the "core" characters have been issued, which will take at least another 12 months or so. I don't know how gung-ho collectors will be to take home Sy-Klone and Stinkor for $30 a pop when we get to this place in the MOTU road.

I'd hate for it to get to that point, but as long as Mattel sticks to one or 2 figures a month, I believe this line will have at least a couple years of life in it.

New pics of Hordak, Zodak, Man-At-Arms and Tri-Klops are on the front page of he-man.org. Man-At-Arms is fantastic!!
