the blond teela kinda bothers me. i know it's based on the character in the comics but if they really wanted it to be an older version of teela they should have included the same head with red hair. someone on that other He-Man board did a mock up of the head with red hair and i thought it looked awesome. it's just not teela to me with blond hair. just a random warrior babe i guess.

So will the She-Ra 2.0 that comes out later this year have a different headsculpt, etc? I've read for sure that she'll have a new body. Anybody know anything more?

If I remember right, she's going to have a head that won't have the big hole in it?!

Do you have a link to the custom Teela Craw? I want to see how she looks with the red hair.

From He-man.org's "ask Matty Q&A"

Catra's soft hand

There's been a lot of talk about Catra's soft "scratching" hand since Pixel Dan posted his video review, so I just have to ask - what's the deal with that?

One of my friends think it's been made from soft plastic by mistake (lol), while I'm pretty sure it's a safety measure, so kids wouldn't hurt themselves if they get their hands on the toy. Can you shed some light on that?

I went to TC Chen our engineer on MOTUC and he confirmed that indeed the soft hand is a safety requirement (even on an "adult collectable"). If the hand was made of harder plastic it would be considered two pointy for safety standards. It was made with least "soft" plastic possible.

Also, to reconfirm the reason the "sword" is soft as well is because it shares a tool with the whip. We had out choice of a hard whip or a soft sword. We went with the sword (knowing there was no way to win this one with both a soft and hard accessory needing to share tools - and we did look into reworking it into different tools but it just was not logistically possible - I know how much you love that term!)

The soft hand is FAIL! (and bull faced lie) Mer-man has a hard scratching hand,Marzo's hand can scratch aswell! etc.... THE WEAPON'S alone that come with the figures could poke an eye out (Whiplash's spear etc)...a safety measure??? baloney.....

Mattel tooled the hand using softer plastic likely because is was a shared tooling using the same mold tray that probably casted the Sword and whip using the same softer plastic. Those who watched Pixel Dan's Review can see how rubbery the hand is.....its just more Mattel spin because they made it to cut any extra costs likely...you'll accept reversed shoulders figures, now you'll accept much cheaper, softer plastic...thats right! and we'll still buy it! too bad Catra is attached to the Subscription

I tend to believe the safety story. It seems to me that having two different plastics for the hand would be more expensive. Why not just cast the other new hand in the same rigid plastic? They used one type of plastic for her weapons. For something so small as a hand I doubt they would go out and spend more money on a softer plastic. And if the softer plastic is cheaper why not make the whole figure out of it?

Ram Man has been trademarked.....(Guru said coming sooner than later) early 2012 release? we shall see

SWEET. I can't wait for this one.

I know I get all of these, so maybe this phrase is essentially meaningless - but this one is definitely a must have!

Fine with me!

I don't think I'll think of her as Teela at all, to be quite honest. I still love the figure.

I believe the scratching hand used the same tooled tray mold with the whip and sword, which is why the hand is so soft (it would cost Mattel more money if it didn't share the same tool tray with other sculpt pieces). So the hand got shared with the whip and sword tool tray.

the rest of Catra's body (except the head) uses the same tooled body as She-ra,which because the weapons were casted from a new tool made (Hand, sword, whip) using a softer, cheaper plastic...

if its a safety concern, why does mer-man have a scratching hand that isnt rubbery? most of the weapons have sharp points! (look at he-man's sword) even Roboto's hand could scratch an eye out...Mattel says safety issue (bull) No,they tooled the parts using a cheaper, softer, plastic for the mold tray used and the scratching hand was in that mold.....

I don't buy Mattel's explanation either,
but it doesn't bother me that much... only that she won't be able to hold both weapons... oh well...
Looks pretty cool regardless...

yeah she looks good as long as that sheild covers up her mis-colored,rubbery scatching hand :horror

Sounds pretty reasonable... I think you're probably right about all this.

don't really see the big deal about the hand. if it was designed to grip a weapon and couldn't because it was too soft i'd be pissed. but it's a useless hand so i don't really care what it's made of. it has no function. frankly i wish she had 2 gripping hands to hold both her whip and sword if i wanted. don't really know why they think it's a safety hazard. beast-man and stratos have the exact same hand design. oh well. i'll talk to TG about it next time we have supper together.

I suppose that's true.

The "non-grip" hand does make for a more natural looking pose. I don't mind it on some of the figures.

to each their own I guess. I believe the safety issue but it's pointless to argue it at this juncture the figure is coming out soon, if you don't like yours just sell it when it comes in the mail. I don't mind that she only can hold one weapon not every fighter in the universe has to dual wield. But what do I know I'm just a loyal, open minded He-Man fan.

its not about the open hand or her not being able to hold two weapons...its the plastic used (one hand hard, one hand soft) and Pixel Dan said the hand was miscolored against the skin tone...I am glad you like paying $30 for inferior 'in hand' product vs actual prototype...I like the figure as much as the She-ra figure...but the hand sucks! and their 'safety excuse' is exactly that..an excuse! because every MOTU figure we have gotten so far should have been treated the same way...Right?? yep! Why cant we have a month without some flaw involved almost every time when we pay premium prices for action figures...
